Ok so I had just adopted my first pet…

Ok so I had just adopted my first pet and well I google pet stuff and I saw pet insurance which I have no knowledge of that , since it's my first dog So my pet got an upset stomach or indigestion, and and well I s not my husband to the vet And our bill was 650 and I sent the claim, and to my surprise, apparently they went based the soap notes my husband was scared and wanted our pet treated quick so he told the vet he had been throwing up and bla bla for about 2 week, so apparently that's y the ins didn't cover , because the dog got sick before the insurance kicked in, which is so stupid, I can buy a life ins today and not be sick, all of a sudden I die with a heart attack, will I be covered or no cause I died before ins. Kicked in, so my question is why keep the policy if I'm gonna be paying every bill out of pocket, deductible is 250,and the 2 visits I've gone to only part was taken off which I don't get how many Drs visits should I make before deductible kicks in, plus I'm stuck with the 6hundred plus bill, this is absurd and popusterous, then I call to ask question and no one knows how to explain, and there is more ins, companies I sure will check them out

Generally good, but can be trigger happy on denials

Generally they have been responsive and approved claims but I had to fight an early denial on a basis that made no sense and took a significant amount of work and time to get overturned once escalated.

Be cautious of Figo's policies

If you’re thinking about getting pet insurance through Figo, I’m begging you to hear my story first. I took out a policy with them in September for both of our miniature schnauzers. One of them had been dealing with allergies, and I wanted to make sure we were doing everything we could to keep him healthy and protected. Then, out of nowhere, our sweet dog was diagnosed in November with a rare and devastating form of cancer—something we never could have prepared for. It was a shock, and all we wanted was to get him the care he needed. But when we filed our claims with Figo, hoping the insurance we’d been faithfully paying for would help, they denied every single one. They labeled everything as “pre-existing,” even though the cancer was diagnosed months after our policy began and confirmed by our veterinarian. It felt like they were looking for any excuse to say no. Because of those denials, the costs piled up quickly. We did everything we could for him, and thankfully we were able to cover the bills—but I kept thinking about families who couldn’t. No one should ever have to choose between paying their bills and saving their pet’s life. The hardest part came when our beloved dog lost his battle with cancer. In the middle of grieving, I submitted a claim for his final expenses, hoping at the very least they would honor that. They denied it too. That last denial was like a final blow. Figo has been the most disappointing and heartbreaking insurance experience I’ve ever had. My hope in sharing this is simple: to spare someone else from going through what we did. If your pet is sick or suddenly faces something serious, you need an insurance company that will stand by you—not one that turns away when you need them most.
