I am very happy to have Trupanion.
I am very happy to have Trupanion insurance for my dog Kacey! I have had it since she was a puppy, as she is getting older it is such a relief to know that I can make any health decisions based on what is best for her and not on whether I can afford the veterinary bills. The new Trupanion app makes submitting claims fast and easy. I have recommended Trupanion to all my animal loving friends.

Spike's Bad Day
the UC Clinic support staff we were referred to was having some trouble with a new computer system interface with Tupanion. But, despite that, the claim for Spike's care was processed within 24 hours. Most of the costs were paid by Trupanion and, I did not have make any calls, submit receipts for reimbursement or "lift a finger." The costs that were left to me were very reasonable. The experience was distressing because Spike was sick but, I am very happy to know that if we encounter anything like that again we have great pet insurance.

Temporary exclusions become permanent
We use Embrace for our cats. It has covered our older cat that had hyperthyroidism well, but beware of previous conditions. They have “temporary exclusions” which they say will go away after a year, but they have refused coverage on these conditions even after the temporary exclusion has expired. This has been the case with elevated liver enzymes, conjunctivitis, and upper respiratory infections for both my older cat and my two one year old cats. This might be the norm in the industry, but I find their advertising of “temporary exclusions” underhanded and dishonest.

So far as I’m concerned insurance for my pets is part of the “cost of ownership”.
So far as I’m concerned, insurance for my pets is part of the “cost of ownership”. You never know what might happen or when. The ability to say “Do whatever needs to be done because my babies are insured” grants a relief that I’m never going to have to choose between what I can afford in the moment and the best care they need.
