Scam Company – Takes Your Money, Avoids Paying Claims

Nationwide Pet Insurance is by far the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. I pay nearly $200 every month to insure my dogs, but when it comes time for them to pay a claim, they do everything possible to avoid it. Based on my experience, this feels like a scam. They are quick to take customers’ money but make the claims process extremely difficult when it is time to pay. I submitted my claim on May 11, and more than a month later I still have not received any reimbursement. Instead of processing my claim, they continue to delay, create excuses, and provide conflicting information. One of the most frustrating parts is that Nationwide keeps falsely claiming that I have another active pet insurance policy. This is completely untrue. My previous insurance was canceled a long time ago, and I have explained this to them multiple times. Despite that, they continue using this false information to delay my claim and avoid paying what they owe. Customer service has been terrible. Every time I contact them, I get a different answer. Nobody takes responsibility, nobody follows up, and nobody seems interested in actually helping customers. I have wasted countless hours trying to correct their mistakes and get a simple claim processed. I have paid my premiums on time every month and provided every document they requested. Nationwide has failed to do its part. It feels like they are happy to collect customers’ money but unwilling to honor the coverage they promise when a pet actually needs care. After months of delays, excuses, and false statements, this experience honestly feels like a scam. I paid for coverage, submitted my claim on May 11, and still have not received reimbursement. This has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing insurance experiences I have ever had. I would never recommend Nationwide Pet Insurance to anyone. Save your money and stay away from this company.

Pet’s Best is the WORST

We’ve had Pet’s Best for our dog and have only used it 1x. Premiums started at $69 and have now ballooned to $249! Friends have use a different company (same area/aged dog) but have used many times yet their premium is below $20. When we called Pet’s Best to ask why ours was so high we were hung up on! While waiting on hold again to cancel I insured our dog with Nationwide for $23/month. Customer service was rude and didn’t care. Still don't know why our premiums skyrocketed for no reason.

This is the worst pet insurance company…

This is the worst pet insurance company ever! We've been a loyal customer for years. Today, 6/23/26, my annual premium was AGAIN increased as follows without any explanation of why (the excuse "upon renewal" is completely bogus): June 2024: $78.38 July 2025: $98.46 July 2026: $115.66 For what?? We did not change our coverage. We don't file claims except for the required yearly vaccines. We do NOT appreciate these increase without an explanation, and "annual renewal" increase is unacceptable. As a result we have cancelled this insurance and will find another. I have showed my family and friends this unacceptable constant increase with no explanation and told them to find pet insurance elsewhere. They are going to do just that. Nationwide should be ashamed of themselves for constantly increasing premimums with NO explanation

I've had insurance for my dog since I got her 5 years ago. Thankfully, last week was the first time I needed to use it for her hospital visit. The process was simple as the office was able to submit the invoice directly. I was pleasantly surprised how much was covered.

Co-pay tripled for long time customers

I spent over a decade with Healthy Paws. They asked me to post favorable reviews recently, during my pet’s ongoing health crisis. A few months later they forced a tripling of my co-pay (from them covering 90% to them covering 70%), while keeping my monthly premium at basically the same cost. They only agree to insure pets while they are young and more likely to be healthy, offering them an 80% reimbursement rate, meanwhile they slash the reimbursement rates on the more expensive older pets they insure. Since pre-existing conditions are not covered through any pet insurance, they have hostages in pet parents who trusted them, and now have no choice but to take the unfair treatment. Learn from my mistake. Find another pet insurance company. These people can no longer be trusted.
