Very, very slow

I opened 4 claims in the last month. The process was very easy, that was good. But it’s been too slow. It took almost one month to process the first claim, the other 3 remain “in process”. In all this time there has been no communication other than an automated “we’re sorry for the delay” email.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! Once you are signed up it will be very difficult to cancel as the only way to cancel is by phone and only after you sit through a mandatory customer retention sales pitch. This is an unfair burden to place on the consumer but their legal team manages to just barely skirt around state laws to manipulate you into having to meet this requirement to cancel. Do not be fooled by the claim that "you can cancel at any time." THIS IS A LIE!

typical insurance scam

Had this pet insurance for 16 month paid fetch an average $64 a month (average because the amount kept going up and down Why? who knows). paid about $1024 plus $551 in vet bills for a total $1575 spent and only received $110. fetch try's to lore you in with large list of coverages but in reality they only cover $10 for those. Not the 80% they post. It is definitely better to put the money away each month and use it when something comes up.

593% Increase in 1 Year

I was a customer for 5+ years. This year my premiums went up to over $1,000 a MONTH for my three pets. It's always been around $150 monthly. My premiums are more than the payout could ever possibly be if something catastrophic happened. That makes no sense that I am paying them more than I could even hope to recover IF there was an incident. Called 3 times to resolve this only to be told the numbers are correct. That's insane! They were easy to work with up until this.

Useless insurance

Useless insurance. A complete waste of money. I met the deductible 2 years in a row and every claim has been denied. The claims (which were not pre-existing conditions) ranged from vet annual visits, vaccines, office visits, urgent care, emergency room and in patient hospital. Not one submitted has been covered. If you have a pet or pets enrolled with Nationwide pet insurance, save your money and frustration and cancel it. This is coming from someone who is in the insurance industry selling all types of medical and health insurance for 25 years.

Excellent

I appreciate the promptness and efficiency of having our recent claim and prior claims reviewed and finalized. I’ve had Trupanion coverage for the last 7 years and it’s worth every penny. Thank you so much!

Very unethical company

Very unethical company. Insured my cat as a kitten with them for 90% reimbursement and $100 deductible. She just turned 10. Almost immediately after putting in my first “big” claim for an Echocardiogram, I got an email stating that my premium would double and go to $114 a month at my renewal. After paying that high premium for a year, I got a letter saying they were reducing my coverage to 70% reimbursement and increasing my deductible to $500. So basically I paid my premium for 10 years to cover things as my pet gets older. Now after turning 10 and being diagnosed with a heart murmur when I need the coverage the most, they reduce my coverage. And now I can’t switch companies because her heart murmur will be a pre-exhausting condition.

Not Like You Used To Be

Ever since your ‘new’ system was installed, things have gone downhill. The wait time for claims & phone calls has been awful. Prices are out of control too. I’ve had to remove a few things from my dogs policy just so I can afford the premiums. Pretty soon it won’t make a difference if I have pet insurance at all, and trust me I’ve seriously thought about dropping it. We never get a break but we still have to pay the high monthly premiums. How about thinking of us, the customer for once?

Easy and helpful

I have had my dog insured by Nationwide for over 7 years. They have been so easy to work with and knowing I have this amazing program, I feel better about making big decisions. Because of my incredibly positive experience so far, I just added my step daughters dog to nationwide and believe I will have the same experience.
