Do NOT bother with FIgo

TLDR: not at all worth your money, get a high yield savings account instead. Update, as I'm not interested in the typical marketing tactic of "contact us 1:1 offline" -- I'd like to share some math and correct a few figures I admit I got wrong in my original review: I canceled my Figo policy after two and a half years and ran the numbers on what it actually cost me. From December 2023 to July 2026, I paid Figo $1,655.40. Figo reimbursed a total of $70 for one annual vet visit in 2025 and $40 toward a $400 diagnostic bill when my dog was being tested for cancer. That's $110 total, about a 6.6% return on what I paid over my policy. My rate also went up twice with no added coverage — from $41.32/month to $54.30, then to $61.62, a 49% increase in two years. My dog's actual annual checkups run $70–$100, so I ended up paying about the same each month as my annual vet visit. When a 'real' bill came (~$400 for a cancer screening + some other tests), Figo covered $40 of it. I had a second opinion appointment a few weeks later for another $340 and didn't even bother filing that claim, because at that point it was clear the payout wasn't coming with the policy I had been paying into. If I'd put that same money in a high-yield savings account instead, I'd have close to $2k accessible, for exactly the kind of emergency vet bill insurance is supposed to help with. Instead I paid over $1,500 for $110 back. Do the math on your own policy before you renew. For me, it wasn't even close. Original Review: My dog is dying of cancer at only 6 years old, and he's been perfectly healthy until now. When I finally needed Figo to actually help, they covered $40 of a $400 vet bill after I'd paid $65/month faithfully. I would've been financially and emotionally better off never signing up. Figo is just further proof insurance is a predatory scam. If you're a responsible pet owner trying to plan ahead, save your money and put it in a savings account instead. At least then it's actually there when your pet needs it. I'm closing my account and telling everyone I know to steer clear.

Policy premiums increase

Trupanion has been good to us and our pet . However , do not be fooled by the claim that the premiums do not increase as the dog ages or amount of claims submitted . My bill has increased 147% over a 7 year span. They also say it’s driven by the cost to treat your breed in the area. However I’ve had my dog in several vets throughout the country . Not one specific vet .

Happy Dog Mom

I recommend Pets Best Insurance Policy. They offer a variety of deductibles; annual reimbursements for medical care (unlimited or capped); major medical and/or wellness plans. Their turn-around time for reimbursement is within 2 weeks. Policy says it can take up to 30 days; I've never experienced it taking that long. Their website and app are both user-friendly. I'm EXTREMELY happy with PETS BEST!

Affordable, because hardly anything gets reimbursed

First, the handling of submitted claims is incredibly slow. Second, some reimbursements keep getting rejected as "pre-existing conditions" even when some charges are for new health issues. Every time I am asked to request documentation and letters from my vets in an attempt to have my case reconsidered. A waste of time for myself and my vet. The premium is reasonably priced, but I can see why. I'm very disappointed.

The price increase is really expensive and customer service attitude

The price increase is really expensive. I spoke to a woman named Diana who just not very informative and had no sympathy for me when I told her about my dog that passed away. When I told her I wanted my deceased dog off the policy and to add my new dog, she thought I wanted all 3 dogs but I told her again no just 2 dogs. I had to remind her that one of my dogs had passed away. Shortly after our call was disconnected. I called back and spoke with another woman named Victoria. Her demeanor was so plain and I felt that my call with her was wasting her time.
