At first I thought Met Life was a little too expensive but I got back 80% of everything that I submitted. I sometimes had to submit twice because more info was needed. I did find that a little annoying but once I got the hang of the process it was pretty easy and quick reimbursement! I was happy about that because I was spending a lot of money on a foster dog!

Very grateful for Spot

Very grateful for Spot! My cat just had an emergency and it was really easy to submit my claim. I was really surprised at how fast they processed it and got me my reimbursement. I thought because it was a large amount it would take longer but it didn't. Less than a week. My only complaint is that you can't change parts of your plan after you've already made one. This experience made me realize I need to change my annual refund limit, but, even at a new year you can't change it. I'd have to cancel and make a new plan.

Poor Communication and Endless Delays

I have been extremely disappointed with my experience with Trupanion. It has been almost six weeks, and they still have not processed or covered any of my kitten’s veterinary visits. For weeks, I was told the delay was because the shelter had not sent my kitten’s medical records. However, I was copied on the emails and could clearly see that the shelter had already provided everything Trupanion requested. Once they realized I was included on the email chain, the explanation changed. They then claimed the records were still incomplete, even though the shelter confirmed they had sent my kitten’s full medical history. My kitten was only 8 weeks old when I enrolled her. She doesn’t have an extensive medical history, so it’s difficult to understand why this has taken so long. To make matters worse, Trupanion even had my kitten listed as the wrong gender, which resulted in me being charged about $10 more per month than I should have been. Overall, the lack of communication, constantly changing explanations, billing errors, and excessive delays have made this a very frustrating experience. I expected much better service, especially when dealing with pet insurance that is supposed to provide peace of mind during veterinary visits.

My golden ate an onion

My golden tornado jumped up on the counter when we weren’t looking and ate a huge slice of Vidalia onion. Her breath confirmed it. The vet told us to come in right away. They induced vomiting, gave her fluids, took blood, and then gave her anti nausea medication. After we met the reasonable deductible, Trupanion covered all but the emergency vet charges. We will have follow-up bloodwork to rule out kidney or liver damage. But the vet believes they got all the onion and she will be fine. 😫

Quick pay outs but be careful in…

Quick pay outs but be very careful in giving your information or they will change things on you. I joined in the spring of 2019 and when you start you have to give all the proper information. On asking about which breed my dog is, there was no listing for it. My dog is a Puggle and there was no listing for that breed. There was pug and beagle. So I had to choose "small mixed breed". never heard anything about it. Did not make any claims for over five years. Fall of '24 and summer of '25 I had to make two small claims and they paid out with no problem. Suddenly fall of '25 they become "aware" of what breed my dog is, even though all of his records state his breed on it that I gave them a long time ago. Once I verified with them what his breed is, suddenly they changed my terms from $250 deductible/80% reimbursement to $500 deductible/70% reimbursement saying they would never have given the other payout numbers if they knew that he was a puggle. So yes they seem to review and pay out quickly, but be very specific everything that you do with them.

Aileen Andino was AMAZING

Aileen Andino was AMAZING! She answered every question with no problem at all! Very kind, courteous, extremely knowledgeable and very professional!! Such a pleasure to work with!! I’m a retired Airline Customer Service Supervisor WOW! Wish I had her on my team!! You are Blessed to have her!! Thank you Aileen!! Little Chase is my 4th dog to be insured with you… my only frustration with you company is that you double my Premium for Bella for this year and forced us to go to a 1500.00 deductible or not have insurance…
