My 1 year old Havanese dog that we got…
My 1 year old Havanese dog that we got from a breeder we noticed around her 1 year birthday that she was limping and pulling her right hind leg up. I took her to the vet and they X-rayed her. The diagnosis required a hip surgery of $2200.00 plus rehab. I purchased the hereditary portion of the coverage. The claim was denied because it was found a few days before the 30 day wait period. They call it pre-existing and not hereditary even thought the 2 vets called it hereditary. What a sorry insurance provided by what is thought of as a quality company. I read through a lot of these reviews and see overall it is a crappy company the AKC has chosen to work with. Are they not reading these reviews.

Affordable & So Kind!
User friendly web-site to register for Pet Insurance. For over 10 years, ASPCA has been very affordable for my pups! When my 5 year old Doberman was diagnosed with Cancer, ASPCA was AMAZING with helping cover his Chemotherapy.

Bad experience
My experience with this insurance company has been very disappointing. After having my policy for only two months, I received an email informing me that my insurance would be canceled without any explanation. I have always made all of my payments on time and have never failed to meet any of my obligations as a customer. Instead of providing a clear reason, I was simply told to call if I wanted to know why my policy was being canceled. This situation has caused me a great deal of inconvenience because I now have to find another insurance company as quickly as possible to avoid being left without coverage. I believe customers deserve transparency, respect, and a clear explanation when such an important decision is made. Unfortunately, my experience was not a good one, and I cannot recommend this company. I hope they improve the way they communicate with and treat their customers in the future.

Submitting a claim was very easy
Submitting a claim was very easy. Just use the app and take a photo of your receipt and treatment plan and that's it. The only issue I had was trying to find my plan coverage since I had signed up a few years back and couldn't remember what my plan covered.

Best pet insurance ever.
Best pet insurance ever. My dog is a living example of how this insurance saves dogs. When I got a Saint Bernard, I knew vet bills could be expensive so I bought this insurance, just in case. It is the best decision I ever made. This company is excellent. My Saint, Maisy, has had many medical issues; she has been in and out of the hospital multiple times. She is five years old. This insurance has never once denied a claim. Not once. I would buy it again without hesitation if I ever had another dog. It has literally saved her life and is worth every penny.

Typical Insurance Agency. Waste of Money.
I've had 3 dogs on Healthy Paws for the past 6 years. I'll give examples of only one dog. The experiences with the other 2 dogs is similar. My dog was a foreign import and came to me at 7 months old. At the time I signed him up for insurance, I had only his breeders vet records, which were in another language. I also has his European health passport. He was healthy and other than his vaccines, had no health issues. After paying premiums, I got his baseline vet check, and he was in excellent health. A year and a half after enrolling, he was denied coverage for an injury based on it being a "pre-existing condition." He'd literally never been to the vet for anything but vaccines. Yet he somehow when he got hurt while playing in the yard, it was a "pre-existing" injury. I'd say about 75% of his visits were denied for non-existent "pre-existing" conditions. When I called, they'd pick a couple comments out of his office notes that they'd twist to justify as a "pre-existing" condition. When my dogs got older, they grabbed every opportunity to cancel the policy. This last time, they told me I could reapply, but the premiums would be even more astronomical. I went ahead and let the insurance go because they were charging well over $100 per month for each dog, even for the youngest, who'd never even had a claim. This has been a headache of an experience. I can't believe I've wasted so much money on this business. Honestly, I believe most pet insurance companies are like this. If I'd been stashing that $380.00 per month I'd have enough saved to cover most emergency vet bills. I know they used to be good, now they'll do all they can to deny your claim. Do yourself a favor: create a monthly pet budget and open a savings account for that money. My premiums went from about $50 per month to over $110 per dog per month. After cancellation, I put away enough to cover an emergency surgery in 3 months. The customer service tries to sound sympathetic, but in reality, they're cynical and act oblivious. Right before cancellation, I sent in a year's worth of notes to establish the dog's UTI wasn't a pre-existing condition. At that time, I realized they were never going to cover anything. And they didn't disappoint. They denied every visit as a pre-existing condition. Remember, this was just for one dog out of 3.

Successful in upgrading for a reasonable price
I had to call twice to reach someone knowledgable, but once I found that person they were extremely helpful in getting me a plan for my third pet that was comparable in coverage and close in price to an active policy with Nationwide that we carry. I called again to upgrade another policy and was also successful in speaking with someone who was able to improve the coverage for a reasonable price.
