I don’t like how the processing takes…

I don’t like how the processing takes long. You need to wait for like 10 to 14 days. When the claim is not that hard to be honest. Everything is there like the picture of the bill is getting sent but it still takes long and why is the monthly keeps going up.?

They are not longer great after the company changed owners

Healthy Paws used to be great. This is my 10th year with them. But earlier this year, they were sold to Chubb. Ever since they changed ownership, it has been awful! My monthly rate is now over $400 per month for a 10-year-old golden, and they suddenly reduced my 80% coverage down to 70%! In addition, claims that were once easily approved using my Vets invoice are now denied each time. I used to tell all my friends to use Healthy Paws, but I am now going to tell everyone I know to stay away from them. Be warned! Most of the positive reviews are likely from how great Healthy Paws USED TO BE, but now that they were sold to Chubb, THEY ARE HORRIBLE!

Rates go up tremendously after first year in despite not having major claims. Claims seem more difficult to submit and longer to receive.

Easy payments made outrageous vet bills manageable

I have to admit, I was unsure about getting pet insurance. It seemed unnecessary. But when our beloved bernedoodle died, Spot came though to support the vet bills. Then, when our sheepadoodle had to go to the hospital, Spot paid out the whole annual coverage. Easy. These were tough times in our dog world, but Spot Pet Insurance totally and readily did the right thing. 5 stars, for sure.

I don't believe that I got the proper compensation for Connors claim that was submitted for denamarin: a liver medication. It is $146 dollars for a 30 day supply. It is not cheap, especially in this economy.

After 8 years of paying Healthy Paws…

After 8 years of paying Healthy Paws Pets insurance for my dog (now aged 10), this company does not have respect or courtesy to long time patrons. My dog came from a rescue as a mixed breed. I may have assumed or written down a “chihuahua mix” in paperwork at the veterinary clinic we go to. (Also, chihuahuas are known to live longer lives bc of their size.) After I have reduced coverage to 50% with a $1000 deductible. Used to have 80% coverage with a $500 deductible. I’m still paying almost $100 a month, they send me an email telling me that if my dog is a chihuahua mix that they are increasing my premium and if she’s not, my vet will have to fax them with the proof! I’ve never had a DNA test and I wasn’t about to pay for one just bc they are disrespectful about it and bullying me. Never once in 8 years was there any mention of a problem with my rescue dog’s mixed breed. My dog has been healthy all these years. What a waste of money. Just set aside $50-$100 a month for your pet. Do not waste it on pet insurance with a company that is discriminating pet’s breed and age and try any excuse to increase your premiums. They are very disrespectful. They left me on hold for 30 minutes and when the call dropped they didn’t call back and I waited another 25 minutes. They are the worst!!
