Vet visits are tolerable now!
I live in a tight budget, however when it comes to our dog’s wellbeing, we make sure he is taken care of. We were hit with all his vaccinations in Feb, so it was nice to receive money back to offset those expenses! Reimbursement was fast and convenient! Thanks again!

Would never recommend
Would never recommend. They dragged my pets review process for 4 months and then gave me a list of 16 pre-existing medical conditions which were ludicrous. Never filed a claim and cancelled and they refuse to refund me for the 4 months I paid. There's better options out there. THEIR RESPONSE BELOW shows how ridiculous they are, they did not even listen to my complaint. It's not about claims, it's that they dragged her approval process for 4 months while collecting her premium and then replying with 16 pre-existing conditions that are laughable. There are 3 actual pre-existing conditions. I told them to cancel my policy and refund all my money since they dragged it out this long. There are no claims and no money paid out. STAY AWAY THERE ARE BETTER COMPANIES OUT THERE

Pumpkin Pet Insurance lured me in with…
Pumpkin Pet Insurance lured me in with a low payment in year one. Year two, my monthly payment increased by over 50%. When I called to speak with their insurance agent, she told me my rate increased due to CA regulations, my dog's age, and my home location. My dog is now 5 years old, I submitted no claims, and my address has not changed. This is clearly a bait-and-switch maneuver. I am changing insurance carriers.

I Do Not Recommend Healthy Paws
I insured both our dogs when they were puppies: one in 2014 and the other in 2016. The premiums began at a reasonable amount--our first dog started with a $31.96 monthly premium and that was with a $250 annual deductible and 90% reimbursement level. Our second dog started with a $39.03 monthly premium, a $100 annual deductible, and a 90% reimbursement level. I was happy to pay those amounts for the peace of mind and the fantastic coverage. We've had steady, but manageable rate increases every year. Fast forward to the last several years. For the policy period beginning in December, 2024, I had to increase both the dogs' deductibles to $500 in order to keep the monthly premiums at a somewhat manageable level. For the policy period beginning December, 2025, we were notified that our reimbursement level would be automatically reduced to 70% from the previous 90%. Apparently Healthy Paws implemented this age-based change last year. Our monthly premiums for this greatly reduced coverage are now $238.59 for our first dog and $200.28 for our second dog. Ouch. Just to put this in perspective, we have to pay out $500 for covered services for each dog before the policy begins to cover anything at all, and then that is only reimbursed at 70%. Will Healthy Paws drop our reimbursement percentage even further when future renewal anniversaries roll around? Who knows? The current monthly premium represents a whopping 646.527% increase from the original premium for our first dog and a 413.144% increase from the original premium for my second dog! During 2025, I had to appeal two denied claims that were for covered services. The denials were eventually reversed, but it was a lot of hassle to go through and a long delay for claims that should have been initially approved. I should add that I am grateful for coverage we've received for some expensive health issues through the years. For example, a splenectomy and several days in the vet hospital for one dog resulted in a bill that was over $9000. Last year, that same dog had surgery to remove some liver masses. But, I may no longer be able to afford the insurance after this year--especially considering the higher deductibles and lower reimbursement levels. Since my dogs at this stage in their lives both have what would be considered preexisting conditions by another insurer, shopping for a more affordable policy elsewhere isn't an option. We're between a rock and a hard place. To sum up: when we signed up for Healthy Paws, it offered great coverage at an affordable price. In the last few years, our rates have skyrocketed and our coverage has been reduced. I can no longer recommend Healthy Paws.
