After paying for several months

After paying for several months, I filed a claim for $178. It took them an entire month, asking me for a lot of documents and information, only to finally tell me it wasn’t covered. This was very frustrating, especially because I had spoken with them multiple times before and they had told me it would be covered.

Still having issues with filing claims

Still having issues with filing claims. Site only wants to give you Vets name in drop down. Wont let you put in your own such a Petsmart. Cais are processed quickly but waiting fir the check is another thing entirely. Process could be more user friendly

We had good experiences the last two times we called but a few times the rep was not giving me an answer. I knew I was covered but she was very short with me.

Abysmal

Our dog was scheduled for a major surgery, with the understanding that insurance would cover it, as Trupanion had covered prior diagnostic procedures related to the surgery. The day before the surgery, we were told that insurance would not, in fact, cover the surgery, and that the previous claims in relation to the surgery were approved in error. Appealing it would've resulted in extra, unrelated procedures that might've resulted in us having the surgery covered - which was simply not an option given the time sensitive nature of the surgery. The surgery would've been a median of $14,000 out of pocket. To have to cancel the day of, despite both the vet and the surgeon's clinic reaching out to insurance to further explain why the surgery should not have been related to a "prior existing condition," was one of the most heart wrenching moments we've had as pet owners. Completely worthless service. We would be better off cancelling this insurance and setting aside the amount we pay monthly into a savings account to pay for all things out of pocket, considering that our pet's regular exams were not covered.

Even though call centers have scripts

Even though call centers have scripts, you cant teach warmth and interest in the caller. Each time I have called I feel valued and I appreciate being asked about my pet. It warms the transaction. I also hugely appreciate the team is in the USA. The quality is there vs. dreading to get through the call at other company outsourced centers.
