Not convinced...

I'm not convinced if it is worth it to have this insurance, or pet insurance in general. It does give me peace of mind knowing that if anything major happens to my cats, that I have insurance to help off-set the immediate costs, but with 4 young seemingly healthy cats I may be spending more having insurance in the long run. After all, $1200 a year is a lot to bet on, unless something bad happens. Insurance is basically a betting game anyway. By the time my four 2-year old cats are considered seniors (at 7 years old), I will have paid $7,200 in insurance- not even counting my deductibles and 10% of the vet bills. I had Trupanion before and switched to Healthy Paws for a few reasons. Firstly, the rates are lower. I am paying the same amount with HP for 4 cats as I was paying Trupanion for 3 cats. Also, I love the ease of filing claims using HP's app. It's very convenient and user friendly. I chose to have a $100 deductible and for HP to cover 90%. SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT BEFORE BUYING ARE: ***Each individual animal has it's own deductible (makes sense, but I didn't think about that- 4 cats equals $400 in deductibles for me) ***The amount that goes toward the deductible is HP's 90% amount, NOT the 100% out of pocket amount. So, you end up being responsible for MORE than the deductible amount. Technically you pay about 110% of the deductible before HP even pays anything. For example, I assumed that if I paid $100 at the vet, that the deductible was met and HP would cover 90% of the rest of the eligible fees. HP would only count $90 towards the deductible, leaving me responsible for the remaining $10 next time. However, I would actually pay $11.12 at the vet and then my deductible would be met. So, really the deductible is $111.12. Not a big deal if you have a low deductible, but if you had a $500 deductible you would be responsible for $556 out of pocket or $1000 deductible would be $1112 out of pocket. ***If your veterinarian sucks at writing medical notes, you're out of luck. Make sure that your vet knows that you have insurance and that they need to write good notes to indicate why everything was done. Otherwise, everything that doesn't have notes is considered "preventative care"...why and IV catheter and sedation would be considered "preventative care", I don't know. Just have your bases covered. With that being said, I think if I had just one cat, I might find the insurance more worth it. Do your research, crunch numbers and see i

Great Service and Caring Insurance Provider

I would rate the ASPCA Pet Insurance as a 9.5. Our Lab had extensive cruciate ligament surgery and the ASPCA was very timely in paying claims and more importantly, they called our home several times to see how the dog was doing. My primary insurance medical carrier does not do that for we humans!

I'VE ADOPTED 2 MALE CATS LAST WEEK & THEY ARE BOTH INSURED. HE WAS CALLING TO EXPRESS HIS & ASPCA'S FEELINGS ABOUT KIFKIF PASSING ON. THIS MADE MY DAY. TO ME IT SHOWS A CARING ORGANIZATION THAT DOES IT JOB TO HELP ALL ANIMALS. I THANK THEM AGAIN FOR EVERYTHING.

I LOVE TRUPANION

Layla, my precious Australian Cattle Dog Mix, tore her cranial cruciate ligament! I was so concerned and had no idea what the treatment would entail. She ended up needing surgery, and it had to be done soon because she tore her other CCL 3 days after the first one rupture. Trupanion was there for me and her! They preapproved her surgery and once the surgery happened, we submitted the claim. I was reimbursed within one week. There was no hassle or trouble on my end. They did exactly what I hoped they would do! During times like these, having Trupanion is such an absolute blessing. I cannot say enough great things about this company! They are worth the monthly premium I pay. THANK YOU TRUPANION!

I am very very happy and grateful for VPI

The claim process is easy and fast! They covered almost all of Charlie's expenses when he hurt his leg and needed surgery. What a relief! Also even before the injury I felt that I was getting a good value for my monthly expense as they covered vaccinations, checkups and flea/tick prevention. A +++++

All pet owners should have Embrace Insurance

This is my second dog I have had Embrace as their carrier. They are quick to respond to my claims, under a week to respond with Mason's coverage. They truly do pay the full 80% of the invoice. They are very compassionate also when we lost our Boxer TedyB last year. They sent us a very personalized card with all the signatures as wells as Lighting a candle in his memory. Thank you Embrace
