Stick with out of pocket

Sure, you could pay $1400-$1500 a year for coverage, but after considering that a very (very) minor portion of your claim will actually be reimbursed, you are far better off just paying out of pocket and moving on. If the vet determines your pet may have a skin allergy, that will be tossed in the "pre-existing" category and tossed out. At no point has there ever been "100%" despite paying for it.

Great to work with

In May of last year, my dog Clinker and I were hiking through the woods. She leaped off of the path to chase something and got hung up on a branch, creating a 10-12 inch skin tear down the inside of her hind leg. We rushed her to the vet, who was a bit wide-eyed at the damage, later confessing to me that she tried to hide how bad it looked. The staff had quite a time removing the broken pieces of the branch that were lodged under her skin, but Clinker was sewed back up and good as new within a few weeks. I had heard from numerous pet owners that their pet insurance didn't cover any claims that they had made, so I had never considered getting it, until my new neighbors told me about Pet First and how it had almost completely covered their dog's injury bills. Considering that I had a dog who would chase a deer to day's end, I reconsidered my views on pet health insurance. Months before her accident, I took the leap and signed Clinker up with Pet First. In the end, her vet bills were almost $2000, but we were only responsible for $80. Not only did Pet First make good on their coverage claims, but the process and paperwork were well explained, easy to follow, and the reimbursement was prompt.

Wonderful pet insurance

I highly recommend Embrace pet insurance. Claims are handled quickly and efficiently. The company offers a very personal touch. I am very impressed and am glad I did my homework and chose Embrace when we adopted our new little girl.

I recommend them to everyone I know...and will never have another pet without having the peace of mind knowing we have Trupanion. Thank you Trupanion....

Fantastic

My large Chocolate Lab, Riley, just had a second ACL repair. He is 5 years old and had the first repair at the age of 2. Trupanion has come through for him both times! He will soon be running with me again thanks to Trupanion. I am glad we signed him up as a puppy.

Helped me through a very difficult time

My 3 year old pup was diagnosed with a Mast Cell tumor. Not only did they reimburse 90%, but they did so with compassion and care. I highly recommend Healthy Paws since they not only go above and beyond in reimbursement, but also care for the dog / owner.

Extremely happy to have coverage...

Our Tucker recently had tie back surgery for laryngeal paralysis. Not only was the surgery covered at 80% after meeting our deductible, but his recent ER visits were covered due to aspirated pneumonia. We have received 3 reimbursement checks in a VERY TIMELY manner totaling over 3K. If Tucker needs further treatment – he is covered. This brings us peace of mind. When we visited the surgeon for the surgical consult I handed her the claim form while stating – We have pet insurance. She looked down and said, “Oh good, you have a plan that pays out more than many others.” I believe we have been with Embrace almost since their inception. One often wonders, “Are the yearly premiums worth it?” In our case, for Tucker, the answer is, YES. Our Shadow was also insured. I never wanted to begrudge my dogs treatment because we could not afford it. As many know – Goldens are prone to cancer. Embrace covers such treatment

"Premium Coverage" Won't Cover Knee Accident

After paying for "premium coverage" for 10 months, my puppy suffered a bad fall and severely injured his knee. Although I was ten months into my "premium coverage" at $50/month, Pets Best refused to cover a single cent of the $3,000 surgery my 1.5-year-old puppy required. The stated reason for the refusal? Remember that "optional health check" form that is sent to new policy holders? Turns out that if that "optional form" isn't filled out within 6 weeks, accidents/emergencies won't be covered for the first year. After spending thousands of dollars paying for Pets Best insurance, the company refused to help me and my puppy when we most needed it. I would NOT recommend this insurance company.
