These people are First Class all the way. Unlike many insurance companies I’ve dealt with in my 74 years, Trupanion is trying to figure out how they can best help your pet, as opposed to figuring out how they can minimize their payment. They really are a great company.

Trupanion - A Criminal Business Model
I've written less than 2 negative reviews in my life. Here is my second. Their entire business model is a scam. I learned the hard way that their deductible limit is PER INCIDENT, and is not annual (like every other health insurance company out there for humans and pets). Honestly I don't even know how this is legal. They tout that they will cover a new condition for life once you meet your deductible for that specific incident/condition, but think about it... How many of you when your dogs are young or aged 1-5 will develop a chronic condition?? How easy will it be for them to dodge coverage claiming your vet visits are all unique incidents? And for those with older pets, remember, these pet insurance companies won’t cover pre-existing conditions! What a perfect business model for profits! My experience with them has been horrendous as I'm paying an absurd monthly premium for a high deductible plan. Whereas, with literally every other pet insurance company I've been quoted for rates less than my current monthly premium, a much lower ANNUAL deductible that IS NOT PER INCIDENT, and 90% coverage. To get the same with Trupanion would have my monthly premium near the 3-digit range FOR A PUPPY. Good grief. My puppy has gotten himself into trouble over the last year+ as he is very energetic, playful, and curious and I'm out thousands due to the handful of vet visits I've needed. And guess what, Trupanion hasn't covered anything. Why? Because none of the unique vet visits have exceeded my deductible. It literally resets every time. If you think about it..... You can visit the vet over a dozen times for various reasons and Trupanion doesn't have to cover anything if you don't meet your deductible for that specific incident/condition. They just sit back and collect the dough. Steer well clear of this company and their slimy business model. It is structured this way to ensure and maximize profits at the expense of actually doing what they exist to do.

The insurance for my babies is…
The insurance for my babies is wonderful! My only problem is the processing time. When I first started the policy for my 4 babies over a year ago claims would process with in a 2 week time frame. Now the processing time is over a month. They take their money out the same day each month but they can’t pay promptly. Other than that I wish the flea and tick benefits were a little more. It doesn’t even cover a 6 month time frame.

I have nothing but positive things to say about every experience with Trupanion. Have an old dog with some medical problems and Trupanion has been a Godsend. They treat me and my dog like family and no issues or hassles with payments to the vet clinic. TRUPANION ROCKS !!

Complete bait-and-switch
Complete bait-and-switch. I signed up for Healthy Paws after doing extensive research and being told that premium increases would be "manageable" and not due to my pet's age. I was not told that my initial premium was a "promotional rate" and that the rate would increase 40% over 3 years. My dog is young and healthy without any claims over this period. I wanted to be a long-term customer to help protect us as my dog gets older, but the total cost thus far (and projected into the future) is clear that I am better off putting the money in my own pocket. Healthy Paws sends vague "policy update" emails but never clearly indicated any rate increases and left me to find out by checking my credit card statements. I seriously regret getting caught up in their marketing about the scary costs of vet bills. Icing on the cake: the minute you cancel, they delete your customer account so you no longer have access to policy documents!

We have had the best experience with Trupanion! We have had Trupanion for our German Shepherd since she was 8 weeks old. Trupanion has covered vet bills for chronic itching and now for hip issues. I submitted a claim on 5pm one evening, the next day I was notified around noon time that my claim was covered and money in my account! The turn around is excellent, the customer service is excellent and we are so grateful that we chose to go with Trupanion for our fur baby!

filed a claim and still waiting for update. Should be more efficient that this. Deciding if this insurance company is the one I want to stay with long term...Not a good start...also, takes forever to get someone on the phone. I expect better for 1,500.00/yr.
