No Regrets! AMAZING Experience and also my dog has the IQ of an artichoke..

Just...wow. So we got a lab puppy (ie: a vaccum cleaner with legs that barks) two years ago and remembering how I had to use funds in my 401K for my last pet for a surgery, I immediately purchased Spot Pet Insurance. It wasn't random: I researched, read reviews and thought this one would be best. And then for two years, I never used them. I paid auto deposit every month and just thought I'd be doing this until my blond tornado was 10 or so and needed something replaced (hips, knee, brain...he's a lab). Welp, being as he's a lab, he ate...something. We think a poison toad (he likes to carry frogs in his mouth from one side of the yard to the other and let them go--like a Frog Uber or something). And he got sick. REALLY sick. Like blood all over the carpets and refusing to eat ANYTHING sick (if you've ever had a lab, you understand why the eat refusal is cause for alarm). Our vet saw him and immediately sent him to Emergency Services where he spent most of the weekend. Had we not taken him, he would not have survived. But the bill...it was thousands of dollars. It was the vacation money we planned for next week. So I nervously filed my first claim with Spot, wondering if I would see anything. A week later: 80-percent of my entire bill is direct deposited into my account. All I did was upload the vet bill. No forms, no phone call, no accusations, no arguing, no requests for additional information: just approved immediately and paid immediately. So yeah-Spot gets five stars. I'd give them more but it's not allowed and also my dog would probably eat those too. Anyways--never been so happy to have a bill on auto pay in my life! Saved the day and my credit card! AND--we leave for that vacation in two days!

Responsive humans, fast claim processing

Pumpkin has humans who pick up the phone with the knowledge to help, and fast, fair payment for claims. I chose the company because they matched what i needed from insurance and the price is fair. They have been a delight to work with in every case so far. I don't hesitate to recommend people bringing their business here

After a very expensive trip to the emergency Vet, I filed my claim and was reimbursed for most of the out-of-pocket expenses directly into my account within a very short period of time. It was a true blessing, and I couldn't be more pleased with my decision to purchase the insurance for my pet. Thank you, Spot Pet Insurance!

BEWARE OF HEALTHY PAWS

Healthy Paws raises premiums to ridiculous levels as your dog gets older. I've insured my dog with Healthy Paws since she was 7 years old. She is now 13 and 1/2 years old. A year ago, Healthy Paws raised her monthly premium for mid-$80 per month to $129 per month. Today, they said they are raising it from $129 per month to $206 per month. THAT IS A 60% INCREASE!!!! I have never filed a claim that has been reimbursed by them. This is pure big business insurance company business with no concern for the client.

Healthy Paws is a scam and unsustainable - avoid at all cost

You will see many reviews like this one for Healthy Paws. Our premiums were $80/month. Last year we were told it was a one-off that premiums would be going to $120/month. Now another year later, and they want to raise our premiums to $206!!! We called to complain and they said it’s because of so many claims in the state of Connecticut. Our dog has always been healthy, she’s now 13 1/2 and we’ve never filed a claim ever. We should have self insured her from the start. Companies should not be allowed to treat their customers like this, it should be illegal - you would never see this in “human” insurance.

Quick and Easy

Working with Healthy Paws is a great and easy process. From picking the plans to submitting claims, everything is pretty straight forward and they reach out if anything further is required. Uploading documents is super easy, and the claims are processed faster than I thought they would. All in all, we've had great interactions with Healthy Paws Insurance, given the sadness of why we need it.

Trupanion advertising strongly a lifetime deductible per condition but functionally works on a per incident basis. The experience does not align with marketing and the expectations set.
