Pets Best exceeded our expectations.
"I never paid any attention to stories about filing claims for pet insurance until I needed to use ours. Suddenly, my social media groups were filled with disappointed pet owners who had filed claims with other pet insurance companies and were denied for various reasons. Judging by others' experiences, I was sceptical that we would even get our claim partially paid. That wasn't the case with Pets Best. Within two weeks, I received an email telling me that my claim had been processed and a payment was on its way to my bank account. They paid exactly as the policy outlined. I always thought pet insurance was too expensive, but when we needed it for a very expensive emergency situation, I was thankful we had it. Thank you for exceeding our expectations. Luna's mom."
Thankful for Pets Best
I am so thankful I chose PetsBest for my dog. He has been having belly issues lately and it gave me such a peace of mind knowing I had Pets Best and could make the best decision for my dog without having to worry about money. Couldn’t recommend using Pets Best more!
Nationwide Pet Insurance has excellent customer service
I have had Nationwide Pet Insurance for over 10 years, and I have never had any issue. They have an easy to use website to open new claims and review the status of all claims. I have used the vet line for questions about issues with my dogs. My dogs are my family, and I would not work with a company that did not love animals and provide great customer service. My dogs are therapy dogs, so it is important to keep them healthy. Once I submit a claim, it takes about a week for the money to go into my account (I use the automatic deposit feature). I highly recommend Nationwide; based on cost, benefits and customer service.

Best pet insurance I have found yet...
Fast claims payment. Easy claims process on my end. Only issue I have is prophylactic medicine to prevent heartworm and another to pay for flea and ticks (HeartGard Plus and NexGard). They only pay for 25% of the annual cost for a 12 month supply. Also, past puppy stage they only get a Rabies Vaccination every 3 years, but they only reimburse a one year dosage. But they pretty much cover everything for a wellness exam and vaccinations. So far I have not needed the catastropic coverage. It is pricey for a healthy 4 year old Siberian Husky, but the secure knowledge that she is 90% covered with no cap on benefits is a great relief (I have had a service dog and a pet dog both die of cancer and those bills were YUGE to try to save both of them). Nearly $100 a month is a big jump since I first signed up which was closer to $80. But cheaper if any injury or illness occurs.
$14k emergency surgery almost completely covered
My 11 y.o. Yellow Lab, Jake, needed emergency surgery for a bowel obstruction in early April 2025. We were out of state at the time nearly 2,000 miles from home, and it was super stressful. Also very expensive. He was hospitalized for 3 days in the intensive care unit at an emergency facility in Tucson, AZ. I felt confident in proceeding with treatment and surgery because Pet's Best has been consistently reliable in paying Jake's past claims. If not for Pet's Best, I would've had to make the unimaginable decision between my sweet boy's life and what I could afford out-of-pocket. The claims process was easy and relatively quick, especially given the extensive medical records and charges involved. I received reimbursement via direct deposit about 3 weeks from Jake's discharge. My one complaint was that they did not cover the nutrition he required post-surgery via an NG tube. Jake had been anorexic by then for 3 days and still refused to eat on his own. That liquid nutrition was medically necessary to give him the nutrients his body was lacking and needed to recover. And the vet needed to monitor how he was digesting (and eliminating) food, since he'd had his stomach cut open and a section of his colon removed. Given the circumstance, the nutrition absolutely should've been covered. But it was only about $150 of a $14,000 bill, so I didn't pursue appealing. Ultimately, they paid everything else, and most importantly...Jake is still with me Overall, I've been very happy with Pet's Best! Other than the nutrition denial, they seem to cover (and deny) services appropriately. I'm so grateful to have the peace of mind knowing I don't have to decide between my dog's life and my bank account.

Puppies First Vet Visit
I would recommend Pets Best insurance to anyone with a pet. It’s great peace of mind and it’s nice to know that your pet is covered for the length of their lives
Filing Claims is awful, request excesive amount of information for small things
My company moved from Nationwide to MetLife this year and it has been a AWFUL experience. Its been 1 month since I filed my claim and I weekly get emails of them asking for more information on a simple straight forward short vet visit. They have medical records, charts, receipts and continue to ask for something new each week. No one has ever been available in their "Chat" online feature. Some how my plan is more expensive and the coverage is nonexistent. Would not recommend to a friend. The only reason Im giving a star is because the lady that set up my plan initially was very nice on the phone. It was all down hill from there though.

Fast and Easy with Good Coverage Options
The submission process is super easy, the explanation of benefits form you get is very straightforward, reimbursement is usually within a couple weeks (though it can get slower in the summer), and it's kept me from going into some pretty crazy debt over my dog. I do have the highest possible coverage because my pup has some serious chronic health issues (90% coverage), and I'm paying less for insurance than I would for all her procedures and meds. After seeing how high a vet bill can get in a hurry with one major incident, I don't think I'll ever have an uninsured dog again.
Horrible Experience
The worst experience I've ever had with a company. After being a 10 year loyal customer to 24PetWatch - they moved my account without my approval to Hartville who then debited my account without my approval for over $3,900, more than 6x what I had been paying. They then refused to return the full amount to me. Completely unethical.

Happy with Pets Best
I wish the reimbursement was a little quicker but I’m very satisfied with Pets Best overall and I definitely recommend them!
