Insurance Policies in General and her Spay
The reason for a 7 & not a 10 is mainly the insurance issues I have had with all my dogs, including Paris. The spay was ok, except with VPI I didn't pay a deductible or only get 90% return on wellness. It was 100% up to maximum, there was never a time they didn't cover everything. On my other dogs, it has been a sheer nightmare. I have been with (VPI) since 2002 when I had a policy that was 4#'s. My Autumn (Service Dog) got caught in a catch 22. You took over from VPI and changed all the rules. The 1st part you had no coverage to speak of & that is what Autumn was caught under. Then your, creative way to get the better coverage you offered each yr, you had to change policies & anything that happened under other plan was considered a pre-existing condition. All pets, most especially Autumn should have been grandfathered up with each change. No one should have to change policies, they should be "upgrades". This has been an issue with all my pets. Luckily I had Merlin & Lacy under VPI policies. Even Paris got caught in a change. I was forced to take a $250 ded. when that is worthless. I have always had a $100. So I lost money big time her 1st year. She only had wellness checks. Never even met deductible. I have met it with a spay, but something else would have to happen for me to get any more benefit. I pray that doesn't happen because my Emergency Vet has killed 5 of my dogs. I can only (maybe) change one of my dogs next year. My vet is going to call on Autumn. I think that is petty that she was caught in the catch 22 when you didn't know what you were going to do or offer & she has been penalized all the way. She is a Service Dog too. That is sad. I have had probably 15 or more or (only 1 or 2) less with VPI & Nationwide since 2002. My daughter dropped you because she got a better deal through her vet. for a lot less money. I don't have that option. I only recommend you because I can't find anything better, with your current policy anywhere else. I am very sad and upset about the issues I have. I will recommend if asked. The rating is so high is because of the spay being "ok". I didn't look at reviews because I have here for so long. Reviews would not have helped me.

What is peace of mind worth to you?
I started with trupanion when I got my puppy. I have had other pets and it can be heartbreaking to be faced with expenses that weren't anticipated. I believe that cost is a consideration when you share your life with a pet and for a reasonable premium I know that cost isn't going to be my first worry if an exigency occurs. I want my pet to have good preventative health care, appropriate diet and exercise and insurance because you just never know what can pop up.

It was fast
It was fast and easy. I was just a little surprised for some reason that I didn't understand each incident had its own deductible until I had to file my first claim.

there are lots of stories
there are lots of stories about pet insurance not being worth it. people left holding the bag when things go wrong. I am happy to say this is not been my experience. my claims have been paid and without this insurance I would be in a really bad place right now.

Meowsome!
ASPCA has been GREAT pet insurance! I have had ASPCA now through two different cats, and they have just been the best. When I lost my first cat, they were so sweet and kind, it was like dealing with my best friends. When I adopted my new cat (remember: Make Adoption Your First Option!!!), they were so happy to welcome my new addition into the ASPCA family! They are always prompt with answers to my questions, and the few times that payments have been held up the representatives with whom I spoke on the phone worked hard to find out where the holdups were and to do their best to expedite payment. Their premiums are very reasonable, and their tiered system assures that I buy only the amount of insurance I feel I need. If my cats could talk, I'm sure they would give ASPCA Pet Insurance "Two Paws Up!"

Best Pet Insurance
Trupanion has allowed us to provide our dog with the best medical coverage at an affordable cost. Our dog has had elbow dysplasia surgery, another surgery for a loose kneecap and a partial tear on his ACL(or CCL in dogs). We also recently found out our dog's heart murmur is from a hole in his heart. We're following up with a cardiologist so we can give him the best preventative care for his condition. I'm so glad we have Trupanion and we can afford these unexpected surgeries and medical procedures. Thanks Trupanion!!!
