This is the first year I have used pet insurance an I have been very pleased with the Nationwide.
It was easy to enroll my pets in Nationwide's pet insurance program, and the claims submittal process has been equally simple. I didn't know what to expect but it has been hassle free and I will continue to recommend Nationwide to my friends and family. There is a program for everyone, and it's a good way to also budget for medical expenses and avoid surprises.

Healthy Paws helped save our Luigi’s life!
Our boy was diagnosed with severe meningitis, encephalitis and osteomyelitis (extreme infections in his spinal column, brain, muscle and bone) after a foreign body, most likely a foxtail, apparently migrated into his spinal column. His diagnosis and treatment have required a series of very expensive MRIs, and aggressive, ongoing treatment at Animal Internal Medicine & Specialty Services, one of the top veterinary specialty clinics in California. Without the coverage from Healthy Paws, this treatment would have been entirely out of reach for us. After two weeks in Intensive care receiving IV antibiotic therapy, an additional 3 months of antibiotics at home and 2 follow-up MRIs, Luigi is nearly infection-free, and back to his happy ball-chasing self. His Vet expects a 100% recovery, a result that we absolutely could not have hoped for without coverage from Healthy Pets Insurance. The claims process with Healthy Pets is simple, professional and compassionate. We were reimbursed quickly and for some of the larger claims, Healthy Pets was able to directly pay our Vet their portion directly, so that our out of pocket costs were only the 10% that we owed. We really felt like the staff at Healthy Paws genuinely cared about our pet’s life and health, and were compassionate about our experience dealing with the illness of our beloved family member. I now recommend Healthy Pets to everyone with a pet that I know.

Worth the wait

Poor service
I submitted a claim a month ago. I get told there is a "backlog", and have to wait 4-6 weeks, tho they tell you in ad 4-5 days. I can understand maybe 10 days, but not this long. I pay my premiums faithfully, but ASPCAis very unprofessional on their end. And by the way, I found out ASPCA does not provide the insurance. Another company pays them to use their name. My roommate and I have now stopped sending donations to ASPCA, not knowing now, if they even have been getting it, or what. They use to have my utmost respect, now they are at the bottom with others $ scavengers.

Says no to a lot, takes a long time to process, but does reimburse if they accept the claim
I was able to get this insurance through my work after I retired and it is deducted from my pension check, so that is very handy. Many things are not covered, including one injury to my dogs leg when he fell playing, and now they will not pay for any future leg injuries. His auto immune disorder I understand, since he had it before I got insurance. Claims take a long time to process, but they offer a service where you can have it deposited into your bank account rather than wait for a paper check. I think I got this mostly in the hopes I would not need it, since with the premiums and the deductible, it already costs a lot.

Awesome turn-around time in claim payment!
I had some trouble in the beginning because I had taken Oda-Mae in twice and we still had no diagnosis. I really needed that money from the appointments, but they wouldn't even consider any payment until there was a diagnosis. This I have a problem with. The pet owner should not be penalized because there is no diagnosis. Medicine is not an exact science and sometimes things take awhile to figure out. I really needed the payment. Once I got a diagnosis and submitted the claim again, payment was turned around very quickly. That was excellent. I do wish that the diagnosis/payment issue could be looked at on a case-by-case basis.

Pets Best is truly the best!
I filed the claim on a Friday and by the following Monday (3 days later), the claim had been processed and my direct deposit was being made. I've used other pet insurance companies that took weeks to analyze a claim and only after I made multiple inquires. Pets Best is truly the BEST!

Easiest insurance claim ever
My dog was hospitalized overnight and my bill was about $1500. My vet filed the claim With Embrace and within 10 days I git a check in the mail for about $900. No questions or hassles! Thank you Embrace!!

Great service
I only have one complaint: it takes too long to receive my reimbursement from Nationwide. I filed a claim and it took several weeks to receive my funds. Prior to that, I was checking on the status of the claim in my account online and couldn't even see that it had been received and was being processed until about two weeks prior to being reimbursed. If claims could be processed more quickly, along with the proper information notifying me that a review is under way in a timely manner, and receipt of funds is expedited, I would be giving you all a ten out of ten!
