Claim appeal denied due to "pre-existing condition"
My labrador retriever was diagnosed with hip dysplasia 6 weeks ago. She has been a Trupanion customer for 16 months. She is 5 years old. She was denied coverage for this condition due to it being a pre-existing condition (she had never been diagnosed with HD before). My vet disagreed with Trupanion and sent letters to Trupanion in my support. HD is easily treated or resolved with surgery, but it is expensive. I cannot afford to treat her, and this is exactly the type situation which causes me to always buy pet health insurance. The appeal was denied by Trupanion, despite the rational and convincing arguments the vet made. Because of Trupanion, my sweet girl will only live about 2 years more and will be in pain. I will have to euthanize her when chronic pain develops. I have cancelled my policy with Trupanion because I have no hope that any claim will ever be approved. Please read this site's reviews carefully, especially with respect to pre-existing conditions.

I feel so grateful that I have Trupaion to cover my Mia in case of an unforseen event.
I had another insurance company with my previous dog and it was not clear cut on what they would cover and what they would not. When my precious dog got sick, that Pet Insurance caused me so much anxiety. I had to be able to pay for the entire procedure and then be reimbursed. I applied Care Credit to pay for her operation, and medical expenses and death when I finally got reimbursed for some of it but it was not as much as I would have gotten with Tupanion. My vet told me that when I get another pet to use Trupanion. I have been happy with Trupanion but have not had to use it for this new pet. I know that I will have to pay 10% of whatever happens to her and that is so comforting to me. I'd rather have insurance and not need it than to hit by surprise that could cause me thousands.

Trupanion comes through once again
This is the third time I have used Trupanion (unfortunately). This insurance has been exactly as described with no hassles. The website is user friendly. I've printed out needed claim forms and either submitted claims myself via email with receipts or had the vet submit with needed medical records. The claims have been resolved to my satisfaction in a reasonable amount of time. 90% of claim after my deductible direct deposited to my account in about 2 weeks time. I personally like the 'per condition' deductible over the customary annual deductible as it is possible that my dog will have problems in the future with these conditions and they are now covered 90% for lifetime. It's expensive but I would never want money to get in the way of what my dog needs to keep him healthy. Thanks Trupanion.

My Sunshine.
My Minnie's first claim had to do with her getting diagnosed with Meningitis at 5 months old. She has been diagnosed with other diseases since then. Having healthy paws have help with relieving some of the stress.
