Claim speed is getting bad.

We've had met life for the entirety of one of our pups life. We got it the day we got him. You would think that given the fact that we've made claims for every vet visit and all his issues for the last 2 years, they would have all records on file and payouts would be pretty prompt - within the 3-5 day window that's advertised. But no. In the last year I would say only 1-2 claims here and there are within that window. Most are drug out for 10 days or more. And when emergencies come up and we drain our account for it, time is everything hence the reason for insurance to help with these costs. But they keep us in a bind by dragging out the payment. They say they need documents from the vet, but I've uploaded every receipt and soap note he's ever got, yet every time "more information is needed". Now that being said, they have been good about actually paying claims without a bunch of run around. Customer service is generally nice - minus some issues when a dog died, and we rescued another dog. It seems there is a big lack of communication. Take it from me. If you find yourself in a situation where a dog passes, remove them from your policy after the end of life claim. Make sure they are off the policy before adding a new dog. It will save you so much headache. In short. Payment speed and training seems to be the biggest flaws. And for reference the first year we had them we never waited more than the advertised 3-5 days for reimbursement. We didnt change the documents we uploaded or the vets we used (we use the same 2 offices for everything). Met life has just chosen to slow down on the reimbursement for some reason. They also don't tell you why the claim is drug out unless you call in - in which they always say more information needed from the vet.

We really made the right decision in…

We really made the right decision in purchasing Spot pet insurance. This coming January Sadie will be 2 years old. We have had Spot insurance since May of 2024 paying $48 a month. 17 months at $48 paid $816 during this time Sadie had racked up $1,000’s in wellness and medical costs. Spot covered and reimbursed us 80% after a small yearly deductible. The very best decision we ever made purchasing Spot pet insurance. I was concerned when Sadie’s policy was renewed she would either be refused continuance of insurance or it would increase dramatically due to the claims we had especially the first year. Much to our surprise insurance continued and at the same premium! Spot insurance makes it very easy to submit a claim and the reimbursement in our opinion is reasonably quick with direct deposit. Spot insurance couldn’t make it any easier. I would highly recommend Spot insurance. Representatives are helpful and easy to work with.

Ease of use

Metlufe makes understanding the process of insurance for my puppy easy. Submitting claims and receiving refunds is quick and easy; her file is easy to track. I like the educational articles that come out. I find them useful in some areas I need further knowledge. I’ll keep with MetLife.

Met Life Pet Insurance has been a blessing

Met Life Pet Insurance has been a blessing to me. My dog has been having a bit more issues with her stomach with more doctors visits. We finally decided to switch vets and we believe the one we are at now is best. If it wasn't for Met Life Pet Insurance, this would have been a costly year. The customer support team is so nice and courteous. What a great decision I made to switch to Met Life!
