A disappointing experience
My puppy's surgery was denied because her hip issue was diagnosed during the orthopedic waiting period. I know this is my fault, but it just left me with such a bad view of this company. I submitted an appeal and hoped they would reconsider, but they didn't (if they had, they would've had a customer for life). I've been using them for three pets since 2021 and recommended them to half a dozen people. They've barely paid anything for my other pets because of the deductible and they keep raising rates. So, I switched the puppy to Lemonade that has much higher coverage amount for the same monthly fee. I honestly don't think any of these companies are great, but I'm not keeping the puppy with this company for her entire life after this happened - they also won't cover any stomach issues because she threw up once on the way home from picking her up from the shelter.

I've had MetLife Pet Ins now for 2 years... when one of my pets got sick and I submitted claims they were very communicative about the progress and reimbursements were timely... I'm very happy with my coverage and MetLife

Over time (8 years) Trupanion's formula…
Over time (8 years) Trupanion's formula for coverage is a black hole. Presumably using AI, their system can not always understand vets' reports and even when calling to discuss the misreadings and a customer service perso agrees, the misreading is used. We have kept the insurance because it is better than nothing.

We LOVE Trupanion
We LOVE Trupanion. We put a plan on our puppy the day we got him because we have had such great experience with your company. We cover all 3 of our Shih Tzus through you. It is peace of mind for unexpected events. Our 4 month tiny puppy stopped eating a few days ago and needed to be hospitalized. Your company helped upfront to provide money for the care. Your customer service is excellent and helped put our mind at ease yesterday by talking through a bill issue with us. We were able to resolve the issue with the vets office with your support. We can’t imagine how stressed we would be without your company.

Ready to make the switch
I don’t like sonnet shift at all! But in order to get a good rate they have you register into the program. To begin, it’s not accurate, you get penalized for driving on routes in the neighbourhood you live that they deem a “road risk” god forbid you have work at the time of day they deem as a risk as well. The mobile use is sooo annoying, I try to be cautious with that as well but it’s not accurate, I lost points for having it in my POCKET did not touch anything on my phone I just had it in my pocket. They unenrolled me out of the program and my premium got jacked up I went from $349 to $700ish. When they put me back in they still hiked my price up by $50. I gave 2 stars because the service agent that helped me with reactivating my account was kind, she saved me giving them 1 star, I believe her name was Shanice. Anyway, since reprogramming my account, I’m unable to make a change to my payment method or do anything because the system keeps telling me my account has not been updated. It’s hard to get a hold of an agent and the work hours… kinda inconvenient. I can’t wait for this term to be up so I can switch providers.

Only lasted 3 days
Fetch offers great prices, but unfortunately their setup needs significant improvement. They rely too heavily on automation, which creates a lot of confusion. For example, I was told I could add a different start date for my second pet, but the system would not allow it. I also believed my dog’s waiting period had been waived after I submitted the required documentation, only to later be told that it wasn’t and that she would still need a vet check before her full coverage could be confirmed. Fetch sent me screenshots showing where this information was supposedly displayed, but that information never appeared during my enrollment process. Because of this confusion and lack of transparency, I canceled my policy after just three days. I couldn’t imagine dealing with this system if I actually needed to file a claim for my dogs. Overall, the system is very confusing, and there is no option to speak with someone directly. It takes hours to get even simple issues sorted out.
