Not quite "real time" in the portal
You have fast refunds however the system is about 2 steps behind what is actually completed so I am constantly going back in and checking things out of concern that maybe a step was missed.

After my claim was denied
After my claim was denied, I tried to cancel the policy and a representative talked me out of canceling and said he would re-open the claim which merely needed a more readable documents from the veterinarian. He said he would request the document himself. Two weeks later, no update. Another representative said further documentation was needed and that she would call the vet to get it. Two weeks, no update. Tried to cancel again and they kept giving me the same bull. Meanwhile another month’s premium was paid. I tried to cancel again. She tried to transfer me to a representative who “handles” cancellations. I waited over ten minutes and was told someone would call me back within 24 to 48 hours. I raised hell. She connected me immediately to the “handler,” who tried to talk me out of cancelling again. I put my foot down after months of $70 premiums for two cats and a huge chunk of wasted time with these guys.

Disappointing Support During a Difficult Time
I had a very frustrating experience with Healthy Paws while trying to understand the claims process after the recent loss of my pet. During three separate phone calls, the representatives I spoke with were rushed, rude, and not very knowledgeable about the process. Given the circumstances, I was hoping for clearer guidance and a bit more patience. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get the information I needed until I requested to speak with a supervisor. Only then was the claims process properly explained. During an already difficult time, it would have made a big difference if the first representatives had been more informed and compassionate. I hope the company invests more in training their customer service staff so that pet owners going through challenging situations can receive clear, respectful, and supportive assistance.

Never say you'll never need it
Never say you'll never need it! Our dog got sick unexpectedly, week after week, and the expenses started piling up. I had been paying for the insurance for almost 2 years without needing it and now I get to enjoy the benefits. It's such a peace to know SPOT has had our back and that the financial burden is lifted.
