Same old insurance

I have had 5 dogs over the last 30 years. 3 french bulldogs. Finally purchased a policy for my french puppy. He was diagnosed 11/20/25 with boas. He had been to the vet 5 times since 9/10/2024. Vet never mentioned boas. Told me thyroid or addisons disease was causing regurgitation. Vet stuck boas in his file in 2024 without ultrasound or any imaging. Obviously to cover herself. Embrace denied every bill after that 2024 date as pre existing. I am stuck eating over 5k in bills and needing surgery that will cost 10k. It’s still typical insurance, pass the baton, point the finger and make it impossible to get a live person to appeal. Don’t waste any money if your breed has potential classic problems. Every french bulldogs can be diagnosed with stenotic nares or boas. Policy is a worthless piece of paper. Seeing my premiums are $1200 a year

Thanks!

Simple and easy to follow. No confusing questions about what is covered. I do wish I could have added a 4th pet. My pretty kitty Marcy.

Alex was very helpful on the phone

Alex was very helpful on the phone. I give him a 5 star review. However, I have a complaint about policy coverage which I know Alex has no control over... I have been a Nationwide Pet insurance customer for over 10 years. I have two new kittens. I'm disappointed that there is no "kitten exclusion" for the 14 day waiting period for coverage. I have new kittens who are 8 weeks old. I want to take them in for their first kitten appointment right away, but although I purchased coverage today, I cannot use my coverage for 14 days. By definition an 8 week old kitten who has not been to the vet does not have medical records that need to be reviewed by underwriting. I'm am left making a choice to postpone my kittens health check or pay for it myself even though I have paid for insurance. I can't justify having their health check delayed so I will pay for it myself. Disappointed that kitten coverage is not available to my kittens immediately.

Best care for my dog in times of need

This company allows me to care for my dog the best possible way it times of accident or in our situation illness. My dog was diagnosed with bladder stones and a stone in the urethra which was slowing down urination and eventually would have led to blockage which would have been an emergency. With the help of healthy paws for all the diagnostics and then the transfer to a board certified surgeon , my boy was able to have surgery. He was hospitalized for 3 days total. The insurance covered everything expect the exams ans consultations. My baby is so worth it and glad to have him feeling so much better. We have had him home for 2 weeks now. He is almost back to his old self again.

I FEEL RELIEVED …

Easy to understand the different coverage options, low pressure to purchase but ready to help explain, excellent coverage options (I have a puppy) and although I haven’t used it yet, it comes HIGHLY recommended for friendly, professional customer service & support as well as ease of the claims process and quick review! I haven’t even used it yet and it’s already given me peace of mind as I get to know my new little buddy. Seems like a fair premium for my desired level of coverage and care.

Left after 3 years due to no coverage and climbing rates

I had MetLife for 3 years. I got my policy when my dog was 1 year old. She is a boston terrior. Just about any time I tried to claim anything it was considered a "pre-existing condition". Not only did they NOT help me with medical coverage my rates went up every year with no help from them. Complete waste of money and time. I will say Customer service reps are great. It is the claims process that tanks the whole company.

Overall a decent experience

Overall a decent experience. After 1 year they doubled my premium and never told me about it. Not happy about that. And my coverage is supposed to be all inclusive with exception of preexisting conditions, which my dogs didn’t have. They don’t always reimburse for things. Its good to have insurance in the chance something happens so I pay the premium and go on about my way. As far as whether there are better companies, I’m not sure. They did reimburse on my recent visit so that’s a plus.
