Just filed my first claim on Trupanion and I couldn't be happier with the ease in filing. Simple and to the point. The Live Chat was also very useful in answering my questions about coverage!

I wish i could give 0 stars.. premium increase SCAM

I wish i could give 0 stars. This is a scam. We've been with trupanion for 5 years. Sure, they pay up (as do any other pet insurance companies) but they will also increase your premium yearly a ridiculous amount. In the last year both our dogs (insured with them) have had a 40% increase! And thats just in the last year.. Prior year it was 20% increase. I understand inflation and why premiums go up.. but 40% in one year? I've also spoken to other people not with trupanion and their premiums have gone up $5 lol which is a lot different from my $50 increase with just the one dog. And might I add their pet insurance ALSO pays up no problem. So why is Trupanion's calculation of inflation so much more than the others? We are switching insurances on one of our dogs but unfortunately, we are stuck with the other as he has had ACL issues which would mean a "pre-existing condition" if we were to switch insurance companies for him. We started out paying a reasonable $70/month with $250 deductible but over time we have kept increasing our deductible to try to keep our premiums lower. Now we're paying $170/month for $750 deductible. And that's just the one dog. The other dog we're now paying $150/month for $750 deductible as well. STAY AWAY FROM TRUPANION... Don't make the same mistake as us. Now we either suck it up and pay whatever BS premium they throw at us or have no insurance.. (which at this point is kind of starting to look ideal) And to respond to their response below.. I've already spoken to them prior to writing this review. they've basically spat out a generic response about inflation rates and when asked for actual numbers and calculations to justify a 40-50% increase they said they are not able to provide me with that. I'm still scratching my head over the fact that other pet insurances who are in the same industry as Trupanion are not implementing 50% increases in premiums but are able to provide the exact same service.

Onboarding process was very smooth however the app is very slow and clunky. Love the idea behind the program and would love the see the execution and mobile customer experience side of things improve

Kelsey was really helpful in helping me…

Kelsey was really helpful in helping me understand the policy changes, in explaining the new Wellness option, and in making needed changes to my existing policy for my cat. And, so nice in the phone - especially when 2 other services I use online have been hopeless on the phone. Kelsey was a refreshing "norm" we should all be able to expect and enjoy. Thank you!

Scared little girl

Sasha had to be boarded because we were going out of state, staying in a motel suite. VHA reported she was having bloody diarrhea. She had this the last time she was boarded. They gave her an antibiotic and an antidiarrheal medicine. VHA sent reports to us twice a day, plus pictures and videos. We could tell when Sasha was getting better because her tail was up. We do not take Sasha anywhere else. Embrace pet insurance promptly reimburses us for covered expenses. VHA put Sasha in ICU because it is quieter (most of the time) and calming to her. VHA ICU is staffed 24 hours a day. Boarding is only staffed 7 am to 6 pm. Embrace also reimburses us for her (special diet) food and medicines. We get our money's worth, (unfortunately) with Embrace. All of our pets i.e. family have had Embrace.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

This company is terrible! DO NOT buy pet insurance from them. It is an absolute ripoff. First, they told me that my premiums would never increase from $100/mo. After the 1st year, they increased it to $120/mo. telling me they "periodically evaluate the area for coverage, costs, etc." What bs. That is NOT what I was told when I signed up. I have never even used the insurance, and when I called the other day it got worse. The agent told me because I moved 30 min. down the road my premium would increase to $153/mo. I was furious. How ridiculous! I told them I was not paying that much, and they said they could raise the deductible to offset it. Gee thanks. It was already $700 so I can't even get my 1 ER visit paid for in 2 yrs. of having the coverage. No thank you. Worst company ever. DO NOT buy their coverage! You will regret it. You might as well start a savings account and put the money in there. That's what I did...
