Comprehensive & dependable coverage
I have insured my pets with Pets Best for several years. Their comprehensive coverage gives me comfort that I am always able to provide the best possible care for my pets, without making cost a part of that decision. They have supported my cat through a cancer diagnosis, my greyhound through chronic urinary tract issues, and my oldest greyhound with GOLPP. At every step, Pets Best could be counted on to provide coverage and I could rest knowing that once my deductible and out of pocket was covered, they would cover the balance. In addition to covering exam costs, lab test, diagnostic testing and of course treatment, the actual cost of their policy is also reasonable for the broad coverage they provide. Thank you Pets Best!

Paying another deductible for the same condition
I must say that Trupanion is quick to pay out claims BUT they somehow overlook the same medical conditions that has met the deductible from previous claims. And this results into being made to pay the deductible twice. My cat has a heart murmur so his Vet included a proBNP test when they did his bloodwork on June 2023 and this test came back positive. An Echocardiogram was eventually done and this showed early stage of Cardiomyopathy. Then on Feb 2026 I took my cat to a different Vet for dental cleaning but because of his heart murmur, they had to do another proBNP test that came back way over the normal value. An Echocardiogram was done again which showed a progression of his Cardiomyopathy. When I submitted a claim to Trupanion, I was made to pay another deductible of $250 because they said it’s another medical condition. I don’t understand why they keep saying that my first claim in June 2023 with the Echocardiogram was because of an eye problem and therefore completely different from the Feb 2026 claim. What kind of Vet would order an Echocardiogram for an eye condition? The fact that I’m paying $98 a month insurance for 1 cat, it’s just fair to ask Trupanion to get competent and knowledgeable underwriters to review claims so as not to cause further trauma and frustration to their clients.

Your system is beyond confusing and…
Your system is beyond confusing and provides no direction on how to move a claim forward. This last claim you told me information is missing and then proceeded to process it anyway. No one reaches out to you on the information missing from the claim either. As pet owners, my focus is getting my pet back to normal, not chasing down information for a claim when I already provide you with the documents you asked me for. If you want more documents, ask for more documents. I send an itemized invoice, the SOPs and the pet history everytime and several of my claims have been denied. For what reason I don't know. I hesitate to recommend METLIFE to others because the process is not seamless at all and there is zero communication on METLIFE's end. I have yet to speak to a live person about any of my claims. If information is needed, metlife should reach out or send a reminder that info is needed before the claim is closed. Once a claim is closed someone should reach out to see if there are any questions on the claim processed or at the very least a courtesy call to ask if the pet is doing okay. This experience has been anything but personable. There is no chat bot to offer help, there is no agent handling my case and reaching out, there is nothing. It's a guessing game and a game of rulet on whether or not they accept the claim or not.
