This was our first experience with dog Insurance. Definitely worthwhile! Our six-year-old lab had to have a tumor removed and insurance covered all but the deductible. Extremely grateful.

Premium doubled on auto-billing. Minimal notice. No resolution.
I’ve been a Healthy Paws customer for years with minimal claims over the life of my dog. My monthly premium increased from under $150 to $352.33. Because the account was on automatic billing, the new rate was applied and continued for months before I caught it. Healthy Paws stated that a renewal notice was sent via email and later provided a copy. The subject line reads “Your Pet Insurance Policy Update,” and the premium increase is embedded within a broader message rather than clearly presented as a material pricing change requiring acknowledgment. When I contacted them, I acknowledged the policy terms and proposed a straightforward resolution: move to a lower-cost plan and address the approximately $1,600 in overpaid premiums in a way that preserved the relationship. They declined. I was told no adjustment of any kind was possible. This may meet a regulatory standard. It does not meet a reasonable standard for communicating a material change tied to automatic billing. If you’re evaluating pet insurance, I would look for a company that treats a doubling of premiums as something that requires clear, active acknowledgment—not a single standard notice. That was not my experience.

We had a few delays with processing forms initially, but overall the experience of working with MetLife has been great. My dog's health issues have been stressful and I've felt a lot of relief knowing we don't have to fight to get our reimbursements.
