The policy and or claim process is Frustrating.
I don't see how this company has gotten any 5 star ratings. I went through them because of being a USAA member and i received crazy good discounts. But like another client said they drag and draw out paperwork to the point it is frustrating. I've been a member for close to a year and half and between hearing, that issue is connected to a preexisting condition, you have not met your deductible amount, and oh that is part of our wellness plan. I have a wellness plan already why do i need another. All i wanted covered were my pups meds. As another customer stated don't be fooled by the low rates. I've faithfully made my payments every month on time and they drag their feet when it's time to pay. I would go somewhere else. I could keep going but what's the point, this is not the company you'd want to go through. God forbid your fur baby get's extremely sick and you need to get a quick reimbursement, it's NOT going to happen! Why USAA would align themselves with them is a mystery, because they definitely don't take care of their members.

H.P. dropped policy stating my pet died. She is alive and well'!
We maintained a policy with Healthy Paws for our do, for almost 7 years, even though their monthly premium had almost doubled in that time. They suddenly dropped that coverage and sent me a sympathy card, postmarked Feb 21, 2023, stating that she died. Our dog is alive and well!!! On 2/27/2023 I called Healthy Paws and spoke to a representative. She created a case number 13591649 to investigate this matter. Having heard nothing from Healthy Paws for 10 days, I called again today, 3/8/2023. Both persons that I spoke to stated that the cancellation was Healthy Paws mistake, and this matter was being “processed”. Neither could give me a time frame in which this matter would be resolved. Beware of this company.

Annual maximum is horribly low
Annual maximum is horribly low for a lot of treatments/categories. I feel like I’m being robbed. Just got my EOB for an annual check up for my dog and less than half was covered.

Dental surgery
Healthy Paws insurance paid for a much needed dental surgery on my one year old Boston Terrier. He had 26 impacted adult teeth removed that presented with dentigerous cysts- a condition covered by our policy. Thankfully 80% of the costs associated with this life altering procedure were reimbursed and that allowed us to focus on comforting our little guy- not the money. Very grateful for good coverage and expedient claim approval.

I purchased pet insurance with Pumpkin…
I purchased pet insurance with Pumpkin on 2/16/2023. I had an issue where my dog would not eat on 3/2/2022 and took her to the ER. I filed a claim with pumpkin and they denied it. Their reason stated was for a pre-existing condition. How not eating is a pre-existing condition blew my mind. They also said they needed vaccination records for 12/2022 when she was vaccinated on 11/2022. All they did was try to find a reason to deny my claim. I wouldn’t recommend anyone purchase pet insurance at Pumpkin. Will they use this situation to call everything a pre-existing condition now.
