Waiting period is two weeks. My dog was sick during the first week.
I am new to pet insurance as we have been paying out-of-pocket for our dog’s medical bills for the past 13 years of his life. We decided to finally give pet insurance a chance as he was getting old and purchased a policy plan. The policy coverage guidelines stated the main important points, such as policy effective date, price points, coverage %, and eligible coverages. He became suddenly ill and we had to take him to the emergency vet, where they examined him and discovered an illness that had a very painful, low survival rate even with surgery. We ended up having to euthanize him per the doctor’s recommendation, to lesson his pain as it would only get worse by the seconds. The medical fees for that night ended up being $1200 and we weren’t able to receive a single penny and were simply told that there is a waiting period, which was stated amongst a long list of the policy’s notes. I wish they had stated that there was a waiting period at all on the main statements about our dog’s policy. I feel as if the waiting period defeats the purpose of having an insurance at all as we really never know when our pets will become sick or end up in accidents.
I’ve been using Healthy Paws to insure my pup for nearly two years now. When I first got my pup I did quite a bit of research on the various companies offering pet insurance. I was drawn to Healthy Paws’ simple benefits structure, as well as not having a cap on benefits per incident nor lifetime (super important!). They also had the highest user rating and seemed to be competitively priced with others, so I decided to give them a try… and I’m happy to say that to date they’ve delivered. I’ve made a couple sizable claims, and both were seamlessly paid out as expected with zero interaction from me other than submitting photos of my vet bill. If you’re in the market for pet insurance I highly recommend them.
Our puppy got into and eat raisins (can be very toxic) and we had to rush her to the ER vet. After a hospital stay and a big bill we were so thankful we had pet insurance! It was super simple to submit the claims via the app and we had the reimbursements in less than two weeks! Definitely recommend!
They have been so helpful when it comes to getting the care my dogs need! I have one dog on allergy meds, who has had a ACL surgery, and was recently hospitalized. It would be impossible to manage if I did not have Healthy Paws.
Before we got our puppy we did so much research. After reading tons of reviews and comparisons, we were sold on Healthy Paws. Their coverage is the best, worth every penny, and they have excellent customer service available at convenient times. I have nothing but positive things to say about the company. Their app works well and quick, as long as the pet parent has the appropriate documentation. Even my family was impressed, and my sister just got a policy for her dog as well!
I'm thankful I purchased Healthy paws insurance for my rescue pup Milo who developed a slew of environmental allergies. They have been so great to work with. Easy, fast claim processing and even some follow emails on how Milo is doing....
Lengthy waiting times that they blame on covid. When you call and inquire you get a robotic response, don't bother complaining because they will go in and deny all of your claims at once right away so you have to go through an appeal process. Terrible customer service, over 1-2 hours on hold, and unjustified denials. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!
If you want to call, plan on 1-2 hours to get a person to answer the phone.
The product is fine. The service is lacking. The Claim took over a month to process and they don't have enough help to answer the phone. The shortest hold time was 39 minutes the longest was 2 hours before I just hung up.
My biggest issue is how long they take to get back about a claim that is very expensive. I have been waiting 4 weeks for my dog's emergency visit claim. There is no one to email, I am unable to update the claim for extra information, and when I call I am on hold for over 30 minutes and end up not talking to anyone. This is very disappointing. They also claim flea/tick/heartworm prevention is included but they denied it for me because it was in a tablet form and that is not on their list of medications included. Definitely switching ASAP!
