Peace of mind.
I've had pet insurance for about a year with petsecure. I have the secure 4 plan. My dog just had a bilateral tplo surgery on Sept 1st...which was close to $7500.i I submitted the claim about a week after surgery. Petsecure has already processed the claim and we are getting reimbursed $5972. Our deductible was already paid so we got back the full 80%. Pet insurance has allowed me to focus on my dogs recovery instead of worrying about how to pay for it. I have not had any issues to date with the service or refusal to pay. However, they are quick to exclude pre-existing conditions. My dog did have skin issues when he was a pup, he was found malnourished & in -20 C weather. Because a skin scrap was done to test for mites and he was given a vitamin supplement to help his fur/skin, all skin conditions and related issues are excluded from his plan. Which is extremely broad and could cover a wide range of future problems. I would definitely recommend pet insurance though.

I had to take my dog to an after hours vet for a life threatening illness. The vet contacted Trupanion to verify my insurance. It was approved within 10 minutes. I had paid too much when I paid my deductible and I got a refund check back within 4 days. My dog has to have monthly shots for the rest of her life and Trupanion pays these every month, reimbursing me within a few days of each claim. Human health insurance should be this responsive and easy to use!!

Great and easy
We got insurance for our dogs b/c they had a habit of escaping and I knew someday there would be an issue. About 4 months after getting insurance our dog started limping one day. Turns out he tore his ACL. Luckily we had the ortho report approved so he was covered. They were great and easy. Claims are fast and done usually within a week. The biggest headache is remembering to take the claim form with me to the vet. :) Every Lab owner should get this insurance as soon as they get the puppy!

I have Trupanion coverage for my two 11 year old Tabby cats (brothers) and I couldn't be happier with their expedient responses and reimbursements. What a lifesaver. Literally. I never submitted a review for this in the past, but at 14 weeks old (back in March 2012) Jocko had an accident that broke both front legs. Had it not been for Trupanion, there is no way I could've afforded to get him the care he deserved. Now, more than 3 years later, Jocko is about to turn 4, and other than a slight bend to one of his legs you would never know he had surgery. He is hands down the best dog we have ever had and that wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for Trupanion. When claims were made it was a matter of two weeks at most between paying for the procedure and being reimbursed. Every dog my wife and I purchase will have Trupanion from the day we get them, no questions asked.
