Wish I had signed up the day I brought pup home

I have an active Lab pup who, at least for now, has no reliable "pause" or "stop" button. As a result, he frequently gets scrapes and scratches, some of which result in infections. My claims to Embrace are handled quickly and accurately -- their customer service is top notch! Just wish I had been savvy enough to insure him the day I brought him home, instead of waiting. Before I signed up, he developed a skin condition, which required intensive treatment and which then was categorized as pre-existing. I'm happy to refer all my friends to Embrace. I think they're doing a super job, and I'm glad I signed on!

Great coverage, great communication

I have not one but two kittens, and decided that the best thing I could do for them would be to have pet insurance. Embrace came highly recommended. This review is regarding a skin problem for one kitten: diagnosis and treatment of eosiniphilic granuloma. Embrace notified me immediately upon receipt of the claims related to my kitten's diagnosis and treatment. They took just over two weeks to make a determination, and are covering 80% of the bill after the annual deductible was fulfilled - leaving me paying less than $250 instead of more than $700! While I expect to wait another week or so for the reimbursement check, Embrace DOES offer the option of direct deposit - probably a faster option.

Positive Experience with ASPCA

We have been very happy with our insurance through ASPCA. It is a relief to know that our dog is covered if any problems come up in the future. I would highly recommend their insurance.

Jaws no more

My yorkie had two sets of teeth (the permanent set were growing behind the baby set that would not fall out). We started to call him jaws for his razorsharp teeth. The vet said they needed to be removed and surgery was scheduled. I was not sure if insurance would cover it since my policy was only 1 month old. They covered everything. Get dental rewards. It is worth it. I paid for the entire year in advance to also save money. Hopefully he will not have any more teeth issues but we will definitely get dental rewards again!!

Wow, that was fast!

I had my first claim (for a wellness visit). I cannot believe how quickly I was able to submit the claim, and how quickly I received notice that it was issued! I feel very comforted at having this insurance for my buddy.

Best company ever!!!

Healthy Paws is the best! I got pet insurance just as a 'just in case' something might happen. What I didn't know is that my hairless dog would turn out to be allergic to everything and need allergy testing, special medication and allergy shots. I wondered what would happen, but everyone was nice. They wanted to know first how Eddie was doing then they explained how the insurance would work, then they mailed me the reimbursement. Eddie is now 6 months old and is a frequent flyer at the vet because of his allergies, but the people at Healthy Paws are still just as nice and concerned as the first time. You have normal expected out of pocket expenses when you own a pet, but the unexpected can really put a dent in your wallet. It is very nice to have a great company like this to help out! The other thing I liked is it isn't hard to understand their plan.

Medical bills won't dictate my decisions

I purchased ASPCA Insurance for my new dog immediately because I spent so much money on medical care over the life of my previous dog. I have to admit some of the medical decisions I had to make were based on money (what was affordable and what was not), that I am convinced I may have compromised the quality of care my pet received. I don't want to have to make a life or death decision based on money with my new dog. The deductible is easily met and the reimbursement rate is great. The service ASPCA provides is efficient and problem-free. The annual premium is automatically billed to my credit card so I don't really notice it. What the premium breaks down to monthly might be considered a somewhat significant expense to some, but when a medical problem arises with my dog, I don't even hesitate to have her checked at the vet. I almost think, "bring it on" because I know I'm covered. No medical catastrophe will be a death sentence.

Injured pets can be expensive to cure.

We have three dachshunds, which is a breed prone to back injuries. We also provide them with preventative care, annual dental work, etc. Petshealth coverage allows us to keep our dogs healthy and, in the case of our Toby, who suffered two herniated discs, allowed us to focus on his recovery rather than the cost of the two surgeries he required. Toby is now 14 years old and truly a joy every single day. We wouldn't have an uninsured pet, ever.

Easy to Submit Claims

My dog Tucker is a Welsh Cardigan Corgi, 12 years old and in good health, but when my husband died last year and my income was drastically reduced I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to afford the vet bills that I knew would be coming up in the next few years. I purchased a policy on Tucker last year and since then he has had anal gland surgery (very expensive) and a serious illness. I haven’t added it up but I believe I am in the black or at least even with the premiums paid versus claims paid these last two years. I especially like how easy it is to submit claims via e-mail and how they are handled promptly by the company in a fair manner. The only thing I would change would be the “pre-existing conditions” clause every year. Some of these illness are long term or overlap the policy anniversary date and it would be most helpful to have them covered—if they began while the insurance was in effect, of course. I recently acquired a four year old “mutt” and one of the first things I did was insure her with ASPCA Pet Insurance. I hope I don’t need it, but . . . .

Overall Satsified with Product

The speed with which claims are processed is excellent. It is confusing about what services are covered at what level of coverage because when you are at the vet you obtain the services they suggest. Has resulted in some "surprises" in the size of some reimbursement checks. Staff are always courteous and professional. Keep an eye out for claims where they want info. from the vet as they never seem to get it! If you don't follow up with vet or send the records yourself you will get frustrated. Personally, it's most likely a vet issue because they've already been paid; where is their motivation to send in requested records?! Have had the plan for over a year for our first puppy and gladly added for our second a few months ago. Would suggest for anyone with a pet but especially dogs. Puppies are REALLY expensive with vaccines, little "issues" here and there, and sterilization that you will easily spend $1000+ the first year. Having the coverage for reimbursement has been nice.
