I don't like that the deductible is per occurrence ($500 for me as anything lower was cost prohibitive with 3 dogs.
I don't like that the deductible is per occurrence ($500 for me, as anything lower was cost prohibitive with 3 dogs.) It should be that like human health insurance, whereas if you meet your deductible for the year you pay an 80/20 split. My deductible of $500 is so high that many times a visit to the vet is almost $500 or just over. Most often none of my visits get covered. The only time the insurance has really paid for itself is when my dogs have had to have back surgeries in the $10,000+ range. Unfortunately, my dogs are too old now and have preexisting conditions that would prevent me from switching plans.

Misleading deductible
It's not clear that the deductible is for each instance of illness or injury. I was under the impression that there was a flat $500 deductible. Even then, I did not get a payout for an $800 vet visit. Disappointed.
