I had never had pet health insurance with my previous dog, but after I adopted my 8 wk old yorkie puppy, I decided I would look into it. After reading all of the reviews on Healthy Paws, it sounded like the best. I had no idea that at 16 wks of age, my puppy would be diagnosed with a congenital heart defect which would require surgery in order for her to have a happy and healthy life. For me there was no question that she would have surgery and the best care in order to fix her heart. Healthy Paws was the absolute best through the entire process. Not only did they process my claims very quickly, from the diagnostic echocardiogram, to the surgery itself, they always asked how Zoe was doing in her recovery. They genuinely care about her and that means a lot to me. They are the best and I know I made the right decision in choosing Healthy Paws, and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for health insurance for their pet(s).

My dog was starting to breathe a bit raspy .... AndWe found likely needed a surgery to allow her to breathe better. Trupanion had no issues paying for this or any of the other numberous things that happen to her all the time ... Like gastric upset, there was that constipation, etc. If u are the type of person who would do whatever your pet needed medically ... then get trupanion pet insurance ... Never had a Problem with them and had them for 2.5 years now

Brought my dog in to the vet because she was vomiting and had diaheria. I submitted my claim to TruPanion and they sent me the check within a week. Great service.

Having pet insurance really eases my mind when either of my dogs are sick. I now don't hesistated if one of them is sick, I know it will be covered and I won't end up spending thousands!

have to say that so far I am very disappointed with Trupanion. I moved to Canada from Australia with my healthy 9.5 year old Jack Russell terrier in June. She got a full bill of health from both her own vet and the vet at the very reputable transporter i used to fly her to Canada (at a cost of 2k). I have always had pet insurance for her so I did my research here and went with Trupanion. In August my doggie jumped off a (8 feet) deck and ripped one of her dew claws out and broke a tooth at the same time! I rushed her to the vet who advised immediate removal of the broken claw and advised we may as well do the second one too as a precautionary measure as she had to have a general anaesthetic for the procedure. He also removed the broken tooth while she was sedated. When i made a claim I was asked for her medical records (weeks ago) and I sent my dog's very comprehensive records from my vet in Australia to Trupanion but it seems this is not enough?! Now they tell me they need more.. if it were an illness she had then I could understand it - of course pre-existing illnesses are not usually covered be it for animal or human. However for an ACCIDENT what else could they possibly need to expedite the process? Well, apparently they need a SOAP?? A (subjective, objective, assessments, plan) - I have been a dog owner most of my life and had my pets insured for at least the last 15 years and never heard of this -and neither has anyone else I have spoken with. I have been using Healthy Paws insurance since adopting my Lab puppy Reilly in Jan. 2012. Choosing Healthy Paws was one of the BEST pet- owner decisions I could have made! Being a typical crazy Lab puppy, Reilly has had quite a few mishaps...and I have been very pleased at the rate at which I've been reimbursed for the care he has received, and especially the customer service I've gotten!
