Neurological/GI symptoms

Our siberian husky puppy started to show some GI symptoms and some swelling in his face. He is an 8 month old puppy that is always eating everything that he can get so we naturally thought that he ate something and it would pass. That was until his face started to swell up and he started to have really bad vomiting and diarrhea. Okay, so we then thought that maybe it was an allergic reaction alongside the possible bowel obstruction (by the way, my wife and I both have a medical background). So we thought to get him checked out just in case. Our vet wanted to do an X-ray just to try and see anything so we went for it, it showed nothing. When I got home from work he was super lethargic and when he lifted his head to look at me his one pupil was 6mm and really big and the other one was tiny at 1mm and he looked really crazy! We rushed him to an 24 hour animal hospital and he was hospitalize for 2 days in puppy ICU. During this time I called Trupanion and applied for their pre approval process and they said that it would take a lot longer because this was our first claim. I didn't expect it to take one day. To make a long story short, our total bill for an MRI, ultrasound and the transfer of care from our vet to the hospital plus all the medication and everything brought us home a healthy siberian husky and a bill of 4600$ and change. Trupanion was so efficient and prompt with filing our claim and reimbursing us that we didn't even realize that we were out the money for the

The best insurance EVER

Without a doubt, EMBRACE is the best insurance around. I've had dogs my whole life. My previous dog was an English Mastiff and all that was really available 15+ years ago was VPI. When I finally decided to get another dog I knew I had to look into insurance companies. I also knew there were now many more insurance companies than VPI. I was very dissatisfied with many aspects of VPI and knew I would not use them again. I did a thorough research of all the companies and EMBRACE consistently came up as being the best in all aspects. I've only had my puppy for a little over 2 mths so all she has needed so far, thank goodness, has been routine/wellness care. EMBRACE reimbursed me almost immediately, via direct deposit into my checking account, the exact amount I paid to the vet. In less than 2 mths she will be getting spayed and microchipped. I know I will be reimbursed and be given the same extraordinary service as I have for my routine care.

One less thing to worry about...

The last thing a pet parent wants to worry about is money. I was less stressed about paying for my cats urinary blockage thanks to Trupanion. I was able to focus on his recovery and not worry about paying for it. Trupanion made it so easy, I would recommend the company.

Midnight trip to emergency for toxic symptoms had

Late Saturday evening, Tucker displayed odd symptoms such as wobbling of his head and his back legs kept collapsing. We watched him for about half an hour and then decided he was getting worse, not better. Off we went to an Emergency Animal Hospital, about 40 minutes from home, hoping for the best. The admitting vet examined him and questioned us as to possible toxins he might have been exposed to. The vet then decided that Tucker needed to be kept overnight until at least early afternoon on Sunday. He was placed on intravenous in both front legs for hours. We were allowed to take him home on Sunday afternoon and the vet felt he was going to be okay as they had flushed his system out. Tucker slept almost 6 hours after he got home , ate dinner and went back to bed for the night. Monday morning, Tucker was his usual bouncy and happy self. He has been fine ever since. We check our lawn and pick any mushrooms found daily and we watch that Tucker does not pick up any cigarette butts he might find on the street, as those were the two items the vet felt he might have swallowed.I submitted my claim to Trupanion about a week after out emergency vet experience and was very pleased that they responded so quickly upon receipt of my claim.I received payment within 2 weeks and was most pleased with Trupanions response.
