Life Saving
PPU has honestly been life saving. My dog was diagnosed with an auto immune disease just after he turned one, and we have had some trouble controlling it, and side effects. It’s so nice to be able to tell the vet “what does he need”, versus “well I can only do this much”. I can’t even imagine where we’d be without PPU, I probably would have had to give him up in some capacity - euthanasia or return to breeder. Will never not have pet insurance again. PPU stands out because it has the Pet Poison Hotline (which we’ve used), and a vet tech hot line (also used for my other dog). The only things I wish that were different is having the option of unlimited coverage if signed up at an early age (which we did), because it can become stressful getting close to the maximum. A vet direct system of payment - Luckily I have been able to find the means to pay ahead of time (with some help), but not everyone has that ability - I’m speaking in regards to emergency situations because they have the pre-approval for planned things. Also ran into no coverage for holistic medications without VIN numbers - just wish anything prescribed by the vet would be covered. But would definitely highly recommend. No pet insurance is perfect, but this is probably one of the closest.

We are so grateful for Healthy Paws
We are so grateful for Healthy Paws. Interactions with customer service have been a breeze, claims submission process is so easy, and plans are affordable. We decided to get insurance for our pup Willow right after adopting her and we are so glad we did because it has helped us so much with unexpected costs related to her significant allergies. It is comforting to know we have coverage as we have sought out the best care for our fur baby,

Nothing but good things to say
Healthy Paws has made the claims submission and payment process a breeze. Our pup suffers with severe allergies and them covering a significant portion of the costs of her treatment has been so helpful. Highly recommend.

PetsBest math is deceptive
One understands that a 20% copay kicks in once the deductible has been reached. I.e., for a $1300 vet bill with a $1000 deductible and 20% copay, the insurance payout should be: (1300-1000) x 0.8 = $240. Not by PetsBest math. PetsBest applies that copay to the entire bill. I.e., the customer pays the deductible AND an additional 20% on those deductible dollars. So in the above example the payout is: ((1300 x 0.8) -1000) x 0.8) = $32. In effect, this makes the copay $1250 as not a single payment will be made before (vet bill x 0.8) > $1000. Hard to believe, but true. This was our actual calculated experience. Nowhere on the website is this unusual calculation and interpretation of copay/deductible explained. We are not renewing our policy after this year and strongly recommend against others falling victim to PetsBest math.
