claim response

received 80% return back from a huge vet bill.however, because the addisons is now considered preexisting, nothing pertaining to that will be covered. It is just like human health insurance-anything preexisting will not be covered. If I did not have this coverage, I would be in the poor house-I wish I had it a couple years ago.

Glad I have the coverage

While it's true that Petshealth Insurance won't cover everything, I have been fortunate to have the insurance. They have covered numerous knee surgeries, blockage surgeries, masectomies and a variety of other illnesses. They've been there through the rough times of having a dog with mammary cancer (she lived a year after diagnosis and had two surgeries)and they've been there through the accidents (an unfortunate rock eating incident). I have a dog covered who is nearly 13 years old and a dog who is less than 2. They've never denied my dogs coverage but have explained the length of time they must be covered before insurance will apply for certain conditions. I recommend them to anyone who is looking for pet insurance.

bad experience with PetCare Insurance

I had bad experience with PetCare Insurance, they are very strict on pre existing illness & exclusions. My cat, Tiger had high fever which suppose to be fall in the Infectious Disease category, but since Tiger had Conjunctivitis which is related to Herpes virus before I enrolled with them, they assumed that high fever is related to herpes viral infection & declined my claim in which I spent $540 & I was hoping to claim $340 after my $200 deductible but I got nothing. I switched my pet to PurinaCare, they said they will waive Tiger's exclusions after 6 months if Tiger stay healthy for those 6 months. I regretted deeply that I enrolled with PetCare Insurance.

Waste of money

we found out our dog had a luxating patella on an annual check-up. He is two years old. There was no sign of this on any prior visits. Our vet told us that it occurred from trauma. We sent in the claim with every record required. They automatically ruled it as congenital. We ended up speaking with a rep. from pets best several times to better understand how it could be congenital when it the vet clearly ruled it as happening from trauma, as well as his records showing no sign of it prior to that date. This took forever. They wanted more and more information- we even had the vet right to them. We decided to appeal the decision as recommended by a rep. from pets best. We had to get x-rays of both legs for them which is very costly! They promised us that we would find out their decision by a certain date. However, a week after said date we still did not here anything. So we began having to consistently call them again. This has been going on since June. We just received the verdict and they denied it again stating that it is congenital. They proceeded to tell us that we should process a claim after has had the surgery and we have paid for it! Unbelieveable! Not only this incident but every time I send a claim in for any shots, check-ups, etc. they will not compensate us. Basically we pay every month for nothing. When we joined we recruited many of our friends with pets to do the same. Since this has all happened, they have cancelled their policies and we will do the same. Our vet has also told us that he also hears very negative comments about pets best from clients. I DO NOT RECOMMEND PETS BEST!!!

MUST HAVE DOCTORS NOTES FOR LIFE OF THE PET

Watch out..I had this pet insurance for over a year on my mixbreed shepard dog which was adopted from a shelter 7 years ago. When I signed up for pet insurance I set them medical bill detail recipts for time frame from when I had the dog 7 years..and current handwritten vets notes for the vet that treated my dog for the last 3 years. One year later, When I filled my first claim for under 500.00, I did not hear from them for about two months...So I called and was told that they need HAND WRITTEN VET NOTES FROM EVERY VET THAT MY DOG HAD EVERY SEEN,...Well PETcare HAD ALL THE DETAILED MEDICAL BILL RECEIPTS! NOT GOOD ENOUGH, .AND THEY LOST HALF OF THEM THAT I HAD SENT. .I tried to call all the vets that I had not seen in four to seven years ago...and try to get the handwritten notes ...for the medical bills which PetCAre already had....Only the 03 vet still had the file with the HAND WRITTEN NOTES IN THE FILE. The other two vets...no longer had the file as it was over 5-6 years ago, and they do not keep records for inactive customers. had to call Pet Care back and tell them that the other two vets no longer had the file as it was 6-7 years ago and I was no longer a customer. PetCare said to get a hand written letter from the other two vets stating that they no longer had the files with the hand written notes and had been destroyed. Well to say the least the other two vets laughed at me and wanted to know if I had the Medical Bill Records for the Treatment that was done when I used these vets...I said I had sent the Petcare Insurance every bill that I had from when I adopoted my dog from the shelter...Quote" Good Luck Getting Paid as the law says you only have to keep Pet Records for two years for NON Customer then they are destroyed". My dog has been at 4-5 different Vets in Seven Years since I move around a lot. To say the least I have not been paid for my claim and have paid this company PETCARE over $ 349.00 for a year No one answer the phone ....On hold for 1/2 OR MORE OR THE PHONE NUMBER IS BUSY!...Now here in month three after you hold for 1/2 hour they have hired an answer services....SAVE YOU MONEY....JUST AS BAD AS VIP.and some of the others..! Leave message and they claim will call you back in 30 hours....I have only gotten one of my many calls returned NOT WHAT THEY STATED ON THE WEB SITE! AND I EVEN READ THE FINE PRINT! I feel like crap as I had give the about 20 new customers..Well I will be telling the to watch this company or get PETBEST! Buyer beware! I think it is high time ! That some starts a real Pet Insurance company. How many people do you know have doctors (vet) hand written notes in their pet file? Most of us keep medical records bills because it list what was done and the treament your dog had. Send the word out...IF you use these people you MUST HAVE HAND WRITTEN VET NOTES TO BACK UP YOU VET BILLS FOR THE LIFE OF THE PET! THIS REALLY MAKES IT HARD TO ADOPT A PET A SAVE A LIFE!..I'M SURE THE CEO OF PETCO..IS NOT GOING TO LIKE THIS! IT PUTS A BURDEN ON PEOPLE WHO MOVE AROUND ALOT! WILL START SEND STUFF CERTIFIED MAIL!

VERY DISAPPOINTED ~ DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

I took out policies for our six cats, and I thought I was signing them up with a company that would pay on eligible claims. I've learned that this is not the case. One of our cats got a urinary tract infection, and then she had a life threatening violent reaction to the antibiotic I gave her. We rushed her to the emergency vet clinic which was over 45 miles away at 1 a.m., all the while praying that she would hang in there until we got there. It was a very frightening experience and I was thankful that I had signed her up for insurance a few months earlier so that the expense was one less thing I needed to worry about. I was confident that she would be covered, after all, the Pets Best web site states that once a urinary infection has been cured, it is no longer considered a pre-existing condition. Her last infection was over 6 months ago, and after being treated for it, she had a culture done that showed she had been cured. So imagine my surprise and anger when Pets Best denied my claim, stating that they considered it a pre-existing condition! I couldn't believe it!!! And then they ignored the first four emails I sent to them when I asked for an explanation. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau tomorrow.

Great Coverage

Having experienced a serious illness to our previous pet, medical costs in excess of $7,000, and no insurance, my wife and I decided if we got another dog we would make sure we purchased coverage. We choose ASPCA and our first experience was more than we expected. We had our dog neutered and recovered over 75$ of the costs. Truly a great policy!

Fast, Efficient and Accurate Processing

The claim for the office visit and treatment of my dog were handled very quickly and accurately. I added a wellness option and the check from Embrace was received one week after the claim was submitted. The illnes portion of the claim was also well catagorized for use against my deductible. The team at Embrace was very easy to reach and extremely helpful. This is the only pet insurance policy I have run across that has plans similar in structure to those written for humans.

Grateful for Petsecure's generosity

Petsecure was not my insurance company at the time my dog, Impulse, had a run-in with a stray and she tore her cruciate ligament, resulting in a major vet bill of close to $3000. My pet health insurance company at the time was Pet Care (I mention their name because I believe it is important for anyone thinking of getting pet health insurance coverage for their pet to know the truth about how they handled our situation). I had been with them about 9 years, and had made only three claims throughout Impulse's life, all small claims totally only about $500 over her lifetime. They refused to pay out my claim for surgery because they said "Impulse was not hit by a car therefore she wouldn't be covered." They did so even after I asked them to reconsider and to review her lengthy client status with few claims. And they informed me by leaving a voicemail and also made sure to include instructions on how I could cancel my policy. After 9 years of being a loyal client they refused coverage via voicemail and left me cancellation instructions too. They didn't care about my dog, the financial position this put me in, or about whether I was their client or someone else's. The previous year we had been through a hydro vault explosion at our apartment building where we evacuated with our dogs and basically our wallets and the clothes we were wearing - and we weren't allowed back in for almost two months. For almost a year we fought almost daily with our human insurance company to have our possessions replaced due to soot damage. Our human insurance company (The Personal) made our ordeal a nightmare long after the actual emergency was over, and certainly lived up to the stereotype of not caring and weaseling out of paying claims out. We certainly didn't expect the same frustration and stress from our pet insurance company and were shocked when they refused Impulse her surgery coverage. However, a close friend, who was a very satisfied Petsecure client, wrote to Petsecure and told them about Impulse's situation, my community volunteer work and recent dealings with human insurance. They asked Petsecure to help Impulse (in whatever way they could) to get her surgery. We received an email just before Christmas 2009 saying "Christmas was coming early for Impulse and that Petsecure would be happy to cover Impulse's surgery." Talk about shocking news and a great Christmas gift. The most shocking part was that were WEREN'T EVEN A Petsecure CLIENT and had never paid out a penny in premiums to them! They didn't know us from Adam. Their actions and agreeing to help us is virtually unheard of in the insurance world, human or four-legged! Petsecure stepped up when my own insurance company simply discarded us as a client after 9 years. Pet Care didn't care about us one bit. But Petsecure did and they made sure we were all taken care of. We didn't even have to see the surgery invoice. They made arrangements directly with my vet to pay the bill in full. What a gift they gave us. Months later, Impulse is back on her feet almost as good as new and I am still shocked and grateful for Petsecure's generosity and continue to look for ways to pay it forward. This comment is one of those ways. Letting you know about the kindness and integrity of Petsecure. Needless to say, I took my old insurance company's voicemail instructions for canceling my policy and followed them to the letter. I then immediately began the process of getting coverage for Impulse with Petsecure. Impulse now has a policy all her own with Petsecure. She will be covered for $2500 per incident or illness per year, and her humans will have some peace of mind. Of course, her pre-existing heart murmur (or conditions resulting because of it) will not be covered, but that was expected. What happened to us doesn't happen everyday - but unexpected things always do, and for when they do happen to your four-legged family member it can be devastating emotionally and financially - pet health insurance helps relieve the burden and provides financially security. For that security, I choose Petsecure.
