Excellent

We have had pet insurance on our dogs for years. We never had too much use for it until the last 5 years. Our mutt needed a TPLO and one of my Newfies needed 2 TPLO's plus an additional corrective surgery. In general we got half back each time. Not impressive. Then I decided to do another review of all policies available and used this site to assist. I switched to Embrace. Recently, the same Newfie who had the three surgeries had a stroke to his spinal cord and lost the use of his hind legs. He had two MRI's plus a myriad of other diagnostics and then spent 2 weeks in a specialty rehab clinic. Thankfully he is doing well. Embrace paid 100% after my yearly deductible (yearly not per incident) and my 10% co-pay (which I chose). They did not cover the bath the clinic gave him - oh well :) Am I happy - you bet. And the folks there are so friendly and helpful - you are not calling a "help desk" or "call in center" - you are talking to real people who care. I've never written a review like this before but this insurance has been a major blessing for us. We are not in a great financial position at this time (who is?) and receiving back almost 100% of this unexpected expense has been nothing short of life saving for us. It is not cheap for us to insure all 6 of our dogs but it only takes one incident like this to prove its value.

ASPCA is wonderful

We are very happy with ASPCA pet insurance and have had coverage for over 2 years for our two dogs. There have been some unexpected vet bills and it was reassuring to know we had good coverage and timely reimbursements. I feel the premiums and annual deductibles are reasonable and do not "break the bank".

62% premium increase with zero claims isn't fair!

I've had Embrace for a year on my 2 Goldens, ages 6 and 7. I didn't have a single claim, yet in my renewal e-mail a few days ago, I was told that my premium was going up by 62% when my policies renew in a few weeks!! I called the company thinking perhaps there was a mistake, but I was told that the e-mail was correct, and that the increase was due to my dogs getting older. What?? Of course dogs get a year older every year!!?? The representative I spoke with was very nice, and apologized for the situation, but said there was nothing that could be done. She said the huge increase was because my dogs were each hitting the age where there was the biggest premium jump across the board, per their underwriters... How can any company justify raising premiums 62% in just one policy year!? All I can guess is that they're actually trying to force clients to leave as their dogs get older. Apparently they're happy to take premiums from young healthy pets, but then they'll turn around and force you out as your pets get older. They told me I could take it up with their underwriters - but since that's Lloyd's of London, I doubt I'll get very far. That's why I'm now looking for a new company...

good insurance to have

My cat Cayenne had her tail amputated due to an infected cyst. The insurance really helped defray the cost.

Reliable, Timely Coverage

I have a 9 1/2 year old dog who I recently purchased Pets Best coverage for after the (expensive) and painful loss of her mother in April. Without hesitation, Pets Best covered my dog at this age. I recently took her to her vet for a tumor on her leg. The tumor was mast cell cancer and had to be removed. During surgery, more tumors were found on her spleen and her spleen was also removed. The stress and worry of my dog's cancer was alleviated by Pets Best paying for her surgery so she could receive the care she needed. I was reimbursed very timely and they also paid my balance owed to the vet. I would highly recommend this pet insurance for your dog. This is one of the few companies that covers older dogs at a decent rate.

Selling Practices are a Disgrace

Consumers need to beware of this company's online application process. In January, 2009 I obtained insurance from Pets Best for my Labrador Retriever. I applied online and paid my money. 6 months later, my dog ruptured his ACL, requiring a surgery that cost almost $4,000. My claim was rejected by Pets Best, citing a one year waiting period for cruciate ligament injuries. This was not disclosed during the online application process. It is my opinion that this company dupes consumers by not making them aware of this exception to their policy during the application process. (Especially since this injury is one of the most common canine injuries.) I'm hoping that others will learn from my mistake in trusting this company to be above-board during their application process. My complaints to the company and to the Better Business Bureau have been met with rudeness and contempt. "Buyer beware" is certainly applicable to this company.

Covered Elbow Displasha in 15 mo Golden Retriever

It has been an incredible experience to deal with Embrace over the last few months. Our 15 month old Golden Retriever was diagnosed with bilateral elbow displasha that required surgery. Both our vet and orthopedic specialist were doubtful about the condition be covered through insurance as it is commonly viewed as genetic. We got the treatment pre-certified and after paying our $200 deductible and 10% copay Embrace has covered the rest. In our first year with them they have reimbursed us for close to $4000 in vet bills. They have always been professional and friendly on the phone and the email communication is superb (emails to keep us updated on the claims process and emails after approval to confirm that we received our reimbursement). I recommend Embrace to everyone I know and come across with a dog. If only my medical insurance was this easy and straight forward!

Great Customer Service & Care for my dogs!

What a year we have had. First my then 11 month old Lab (Kaiya) required surgery on her leg. Now just 7 months later my 4 year old Lab (Kiara) required shoulder surgery. I submitted my pre-cert claim for Kaiya and received a very fast response approving the surgery. What a huge relief that was. Then as the surgery bill and then subsequent therapy bills started to roll in, I began to worry. I heard so many horror stories of other insurance companies threatening to drop someone for overusing their insurance! But no worries with Embrace - with each claim submitted they approved it and not only did they approve but even inquired on how Kaiya was doing and sending their best wishes! You don't get that often. Happily Kaiya has fully recovered and Thanks to Embrace for making it easy. Then I find out Kiara needs surgery. Again the slight worry that maybe now I would be told I am over-using my policy - but once again Embrace came through with a speedy approval for surgery. While at the vet's I ran into an individual whose dog was having the exact same surgery only his insurance story was not as good as mine. His insurance company wanted to deny payment and he had to go through a long appeal process in which he was still waiting for the final outcome. There is no way I could have afforded to pay for two surgeries within a year. Embrace afforded me the opportunity to seek and receive treatment for my girls. Kiara is well on her way to recovery thanks to Embrace. Their customer service is outstanding, they have a quick response time and always take the time to answer my many questions. Their dedication and true concern for the welfare of my 3 labs is incredible. They truly represent the best of the pet insurance industry and I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for pet insurance. I don't know what I would have done without Embrace!

Very fair, knowledgeable and responsive

This is the first time we've had Pet Insurance. It is offered at a discount through my place of employment. So far, Trudy has been covered for about a month and I've submitted one wellness claim which was reimbursed very quickly! The folks I have spoken with have all been incredibly responsive and helpful. I wish I'd had the foresight to take it out sooner. Take my advice - if you're even thinking about it - DO IT - it's short money for piece of mind and a great company too! Employers - please see if you can affiliate and offer a discount to your employees. It's a great no cost benefit!

Fast, friendly service.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quick and personal service provided by the people at Embrace. I never expected the claim to be processed as fast as it was. I also didn't expect to get an e-mail specifically to me about my dog. It sure is better than human health insurance. Maybe they could learn something from Embrace.
