Pets best is the best!

I selected them when my cat turned 9 and we felt we needed to start insuring him for later-in-life issues. He needed nothing for a year, and then it all started happening! Dental extractions, evaluation for CRF etc all at aged 10 -- plus baseline labs, wellness, etc. Our first "whopper" bill was approx $800 of which Petsbest reimbursed 80% within a month. This policy is the best monthly $40 I've ever spent! They are always great on the phone and very helpful. I also like the fact that this company was started *BY* a DVM, so he knows how we feel particularly at end-of-life. I think it's a "personal and professional face" on the company that I like the most

$4500 the first time - $3000 the second

When my tough as nails Amstaff refused to eat and was dry heaving I knew from experience that she had something lodged in her. As your four pawed baby is dying in the exam room you tell them to fix her. Then you get the bill. Having pet insurance makes paying that bill much easier to swallow - especially in these trying times. I didn't have pet insurance the first time and the bill was over $4500. The best part of pet health insurance is that I still have my four pawed baby who now plays with my 1 year old.

Best Pet Insurance Company Around

We have had embrace for almost a year and within this year our puppy has gotten sick and even been hospitalized for ingesting a toxin. Embrace has been prompt with every single claim and keeps us informed and never hesitates to answer our questions. Human health insurance companies could truly learn something from Embrace.

ASPCA-Great Pet Insurance

ASPCAHartville insurance is amazing pet insurance. The customer service dept people are always available and helpful. They are very good at taking "insurance speak" and turning it into simple english. They are willing to take the time to help you pick the kind of coverage that you can afford and what is best for your pet. Claims are processed quickly and there are no hidden conditions or statements. Checks arrive quickly when claims are filed

Thank God for Pet Insurance

At age 50, figuring I was ripe for some company, I acquired two littermates from Cat Rescue and a beauty from the give-away bin at the pet store. I suppose because I was so nervous about assuming responsibility for any living thing, I acquired PetsHealth Insurance for medical emergencies. It is deducted from my pay check and I don’t even notice the deduction. All of this was twelve years ago. Two of the cats are now 14, and the other is 12. Last year, one of the littermates and the long hair beauty developed thyroid cancer, and I was totally unprepared to absorb the cost of 1) the surgery and 2) the radiation treatment that the second one had to have because she had already lost so much weight, PetsHealth answered my claims within a month after I filed them, and I am happy to report that both girls are now healthy again. I know I won’t have them forever. I also know that cat owners often throw money away on junk but balk at the important health care costs that insure a happy cat. I’m a firm believer in having health insurance on any pet that I own, first because I am not even remotely wealthy, and second, because it would be immoral not to. Veterinary costs often seem as high as medical costs, and very few of us can absorb the costs out-of-pocket. I am so grateful that I had my PetsHealth insurance Plan to cover Cosima’s and Babette’s medical emergencies. Jim Carmichael Greensboro, NC

Fabulous Service!!!

My pet cat Squiggy was run over by a car & sustained major Neurological damage plus multible breaks in his back and legs, after a long 2 month stay in hospital & several pins , he is now walking & functions are returning to him. I was so glad after reading up on several Ins. Companies that I chose Pet Embrace because everyone I dealt with were wonderfully compassionate & helpful. My bills were substantial of which Embrace paid $10,000 with-in two weeks after receiving the information required. If anyone decides to get ins. for your pet I highly recommend Pet Embrace. Thank You for everything.

Just like every other company

ive been with apsca since 11/08 and i think the coverage is great. i mean they do have that sucky "reasonable costs" clause but from the comparisons ive been doing every company has the same thing. The thing that i like most is that you can add extra coverage called continuing care...(something i dont remember exactly what its called) but i got that for an extra like 9 bucks a month and that makes it so i dont have to worry about taht 180 days thing everyone keeps talking about. Maybe that would help some other people if they were to look in to that? Other than that i dont think its bad at all.

Avoid. Over priced and difficult to deal with

Pets Best is expensive relative to its peers and the customer service is atrocious. Unlike Embrace or Purina Care, they exclude anything they consider to be hereditary or congenital (list is more exhaustive then you might think), regardless of the age of your pet, or whether they have ever shown any symptoms. This includes hip and elbow displaysia, for some breeds eye problems like glaucoma/ cataracts, Addison's disease etc. In addition, they exclude patella or other knee injuries for the first year (Purina and Embrace do not). These are not only the most likely health problems for a young pet. They are also the expensive ones you most need insurance for! Plus if you think about it, for most minor illnesses, after the $75 PER INCIDENT deductable and the 20% co-pay, you end up paying the vast majority of the cost of most vet visits yourself anyway. On top of that, they will nitpick every last thing related to a claim. This includes claims related to their "routine care option" which they seem to treat as a benefit as opposed to an entitlement (despite their false marketing). If their "claims department" finds any issue no matter how remote, be prepared for them to deny the claim and then push it back to you and your vet to do all the work necessary to appeal. This process is designed to be difficult and is a major time sink for you and for your vet, who understandably find it irritating. All in all, if you buy Pets Best, be prepared to pay upfront and then have to fight for your money, waste your time and be disappointed later.

Good, but expensive

I've been with PetCare Quick Care Gold 90% since I got my dog as a puppy about 5 years ago. They have reimbursed me every time that I submitted a claim. Recently, when my dog had a major neurological surgery, I contacted customer service first to determine if they would cover the surgery. They said yes and even said that they could send the check directly to the vet, thus lowering up-front the out-of-pocket cost I owed to the vet. (The vet wouldn't do it, so I had to pay the full amount myself). Note - I see comments about the cancer issues and PetCare and I cannot comment on the accuracy of those statements. Fortunately I haven't had experience with this and I hope I never need to submit a cancer claim for my dog; but if this is true, that is very disappointing for PetCare. I purchased PetCare after comparing all the insurance companies that I knew of at that time. I chose Pet Care because their price was good, they claim to cover hereditary/congental illnesses, and they said that if I purchase the PetCare insurance before my pet reaches a certain age, then they can't ever drop my insurance or deny me coverage after a certain age (ie dog becomes a senior). Generally, they just seemed to have the least red tape of all the companies I researched. The Bad - My premium has gone from $37/month 5 years ago to a whopping $59/month this year. :-0 Also, the $3000 LIFETIME maximum is pretty low. They offer $6000, but for DOUBLE the premium. yep - that's double. Also, they have a pretty hefty deductible per incident. Not sure if it's $50 or $100, but it's up there. So if you take your dog in for an upset tummy and the vet charges you $250 for a checkup and basic meds, you only get back $150.
