Edie’s policy gave us treatment choices

I am a veterinarian and have never had pet insurance for any of my animals. However when I adopted Edie 6 years ago I decided to insure her as I was worried that she might be the type of dog who would tear her crucial ligament. I took a policy with a reasonable deductible and have had it on automatic payment for years. Well the cruciate injury never happened but spinal cancer did. My Trupanion policy has made advanced diagnostics and treatment possible. With children in college I never would have been able to pursue high level care for Edie if I’d had to pay full price for it. We are in the beginnings of treatment. I do not know yet how well things will go but without her Trupanion policy all I would have been doing now is pain control to try to maintain comfort. The Trupanion app makes claim filing easy and it can be done day or night. When I have called with questions the people who answer are helpful and kind. I will now be advocating for more of my clients to get a Trupanion policy for their pets.
