Trupanion Paid $30,867 in less than a year

Hello, I just read through some of the reviews for Trupanion and I can't believe anyone would have anything but great things to say about this company. My experience has been 100% positive. I read a couple of the negative reviews that Trupanion didn't pay for hardly anything. What I tell people is, don't wait until your pet has a condition. Get the insurance just in cast. When I share my story I am amazed when people say I will wait until my pet is older. Big mistake, it's a gamble because animals get sick when they are young also. I just got lucky because I signed up when my dog was completely healthy with no health issues and he was older. I was in Pet Food Express in Mill Valley, CA and one of the staff recommended pet insurance for my 10 year old Doberman. Hugh was in excellent health and I could not for see him ever having any health issues however, I wanted to make sure if he did I could give him the very best care without worrying about the cost of care. If you are looking for pet insurance I can't say enough great things about Trupanion. Trupanion reimbursed $30,867 in less than a year for my 12 year old Doberman Hugh. My deductible was $500 and they paid 90% after the deductible with no limit. The service is also amazing. Each time I called, I have had a very friendly healthful representative. The company is made up of animal lovers. I signed up with Trupanion on July 10th, 2012. Hugh was diagnosed with an Osteosarcoma (bone cancer in his back leg) August 12th, 2013. I scheduled surgery with an orthopedic surgeon in San Francisco. They amputated his leg August 14th. Trupanion called right after the surgery to ask, how's Hugh doing? Not once was the amount of his care brought up. They were genuinely concerned about how he was doing. The bills for the week of surgery were over $9000 and then they continued because I had to act fast because they gave him less than 6 months to live if I did not do chemo. Even though Trupanion would pay for chemo which is very expensive, I did not want to go this route for treatment. I choose to treat Hugh holistically and Trupanion paid for all the holistic care and supplements that the vet prescribed. After a few weeks of recovery I put him into rehab. Hydro therapy, Acupuncture and Chiropractic. Trupanion paid 90% of all his therapy because, I had purchased the additional rider. Hugh had an amazing year but, the cancer finally caught with him July 25th, 2014. Thanks t

Great fast claim processing in times of need

I couldn't have afforded treatment for my puppy Bagel without healthy paws. I am not working at the moment and my puppy stopped eating and nearly lost 10 lbs in a week. I had to rely on fundraising to get treatment for her and pay for the vet bills. Healthy paws was very helpful and talked me through the worst case scenario of paying for surgery. Luckily it didn't come to that but it was a relief to know that they would do whatever they can to help and arrange direct payment to the clinic. They also processed my claims the same day as they knew I was tight for money and that helped a great deal in getting Bagel better. So glad I got healthy paws insurance!

Best pet Insurance company ever!

I have had insurance on my little pom mix since he was a puppy. Never had a clue that he might develop a seizure disorder, but he did. Pet's Best has been wonderful; while you never want to use the insurance, it is great to know that it is there when you need it, AND that the simplicity of submitting forms, responsiveness of the staff and quick turn around time make it a pleasure to work with Pet's Best. We have a new rescue, Harvey, and he is insured as well. We're hoping he stays healthy and that we do not have to use the insurance, but it's great to know it's there if necessary.

Disappointed

Former 15 year VPI user. Vet recommended Embrace and now I wonder why. Embrace has been problematic with wait periods, need for detailed notes. I am paying nearly 400 on routine care to get $400 reimbursement. Just learned that my Golden's spay will not be covered as i have used her wellness money on vaccines. This is NORMAL for the 1st year of a dog's life. Very disappointed in the slow pace of reimbursement, the loopholes, etc. Spaying a dog is medical/surgical and am shocked to be out nearly 1k. Really wish I had put this pup on VPI. What do vets get for recommending Embrace? We're out asap.

Insurance as it should be

When you are in the midst of an emergency situation, the last thing anyone wants to contend with is bureaucracy! Two days before vacation, my Labradoodle chewed a pack of sugarless gum at some point during the night, and I raced her to the emergency room for xylitol poisoning. The best news is that she was treated just in time. The second best news is that the claims process with Healthy Paws couldn't have been easier or more straightforward. They quickly acknowledged multiple claims, and promptly mailed me a check. It is comforting to know that in an emergency, potentially costly situation, Healthy Paws delivers as promised!

Well worth the price!

Great insurance. Claims handled promptly and payment received quickly. I was not sure about getting the insurance, but decided I'd try it for several months. Really glad I did. I stepped on my mini doxie who we had just adopted 2 weeks earlier and she ended up with a small fracture of the shoulder. Conservative treatment (crate rest) was recommended, but Trupanion would also have covered 90% of the surgery cost (surgery would have been $2,200), if it had been needed. As it was, they covered most of the emergency vet visit and her medication. Sally is doing very well and has healed completely! I'm keeping the insurance!

Healthy paws, totally worth it!

It's funny everyone laughed at me when I told them I bought puppy insurance, wow I sure am glad I did! When my baby Josie sliced her leg open and have to have surgery, I knew I didn't have to worry about how much it would cost......I was able to focus all my energy on her recovery. This company was absolutely amazing, thoughtful, and quick sending my reimbursement, so easy and toatally worth it!
