We decided to get pet insurance for our puppy (Casey) when we got him at 8 weeks of age - I did my research and settled on Trupanion. Over the years we have had small claims and they have always been paid. This year sadly Casey - who is now almost 9 years old - was diagnosed with lung cancer - he has had surgury to remove a lung lobe and the tumor. This involved many tests up to and including a CT scan all of this was covered as stated. He is now in his 2nd round of Chemo - also being covered. Trupanion has done exactly what they said they would cover - 90 % before tax on all treatments and required prescription drugs - this means on a total bill with tax you pay 23% and Trupanion pays 77% - without the help of Trupanion our cost would have been beyond what we could afford - with there help - Casey has a fighting chance now - we will never have a dog without pet insurance and will most likely always be with Trupanion

With out trupanion I would not be able to afford to give my golden retriever who I cherish more than anything he care he needs and deserves. Trupanion is honest, fast, very dependable, organized and friendly. I recommend to anyone who has a pet to get Trupanion.

Priority is my babies. Now I'm older and my life is more secure, but I know even now, things happen. Now some of that fear is gone because I have insurance on my pets. Trupanion was the best I found and they take very good care of my troops. I like that I can submit claims or my vet can. Doesn't matter. I have many pets (4), but your monthly premium is adjustable based on what you can afford. Basic care of your pets is your responsibility (checkups and maintenance), but Trupanion handles the 'whoops' or the 'surprise it's cancer' life tosses your pet's way. I will never own a pet again without Trupanion to make sure everything will be okay. They make it very possible to care for your pet no matter what. No pet parent should have to kill their pet because they can't afford a specialist. Trupanion has your back!

I did a review about a month ago. I've had more claims since then. One dog just had knee surgery for luxating patella. When I first bought Pets Best many years ago, that was a condition that the policy excluded in all cases. A couple years ago, they made a more expensive policy that would cover all heredity conditions and I upgraded to that. Good thing, as I just had to use it. They paid $2500. of the $3100. surgery bill and have covered all the tests that went on before we got to the point of surgery. My other dog ended up barfing and having black stools last week. She is only 7 pounds and dogs that small can't go on like that for very long. The vet ran many tests, including full body xrays, looking for a blockage. It turned out to be gastritis (she did have internal bleeding from it) which doesn't sound like a big deal, but her bill was over $800. that day. I have 2 other dogs on the insurance who have been healthy, knock on wood. The 2 that had claims this year had many claims all of which have been paid after the $500. deductible.

I pay over $500.00 in premiums, my vet bill was over $500.00 so I paid out over $1000.00 and my reimbursement was $165.00.Not fiscally sound. So I am cancelling this coverage.
