VPI DENIES CLAIMS

Our dog had to be checked for a leg injury, without any communication VPI denied the claim. Later he was stung by a bee and VPI denied the claim again. When I called to ask why, they explained they will not pay ANY claims until they have his full medical records. Would have been nice, had they told me that to begin with. DO YOUR RESEARCH, there are many other companies that appear to provide less restrictive coverage at better to equivalent rates. As soon as I wrap up the current set of claims (~ $600.00) .... I AM FIRING THEM!

Filed a claim and it was processed promptly

We have been paying premiums for a few years for our dog but had not previously filed, as we did not have any issues that were substantial enough to make it worth while and did not want to chip away at lifetime maximum. We decided after a fairly pricey series of medical tests for a UTI that it was time to file; the claim was processed promptly and there were follow-up calls from ASPCA to ensure we were pleased and to ask after our dog's health. We are overall pleased with the response; and hope that we do not have to file again for a long time.

ASPCA Comes Through!

I have been a pet insurance customer for about 10 yrs, Last year, my 8 yr old Rottweiler became very ill with Canine Bone Cancer. This was devastating news to me, as that dog was more important than most humans, he was my body guard & companion, among other jobs. The insurance policy covered just about everything during his journey through radiation, chemotherapy, medications, etc. I had to pay out very little, while ensuring that my boy did not suffer with pain & had the best Oncologist in California taking care of him. Unfortunately, he lost his battle for remission & I had to put him down a few days before Thanksgiving 2014. It nearly killed me to lose him. ASPCA was right there with me, covering the euthanasia & even calling & sending sympathy cards after he was gone. I now have the Great Niece of my boy, who is an absolute joy. ASPCA covers my little girl & I sleep better knowing that I have the security of that coverage to take care of her in wellness, or an emergency & know they will be there through the end of life expenses as well. Thank you ASPCA for being there for us!

Making difficult times easier.

It is so hard to have your animal companion be ill, anyone who has experienced this knows the feelings. Giving my fur kids the best medical and dental care is the least I can do for them, for they have given me their gifts of unconditional love and joy. What a relief that Trupanion is going to take care of me by helping me bear the expense. Years of experience with Trupanion has shown the phone representatives are kind, patient and caring. Claims are attended to rapidly and paid fast. What more could anyone ask!

Trupanion is a Star!

I had Trupanion insurance on my golden retriever since the day I brought her to the vet. For several years, I paid the insurance with no claims, but hoped that if the day ever came that I needed them - they would be there. On October of 2015, my 3 yr old Golden Retriever ate a face towel. This towel locked up in her system and had to be removed surgically. The surgery had complications, and two days later another surgery. From there, she still didn't improve and ended up in a 24 hour care facility for over a week. At one point they thought Star was septic, and I'd have to put her down. Through all of this I kept slapping my credit card down, and had my fingers crossed that Trupanion would step up when I filed my claim. What was supposed to be a 1 day surgery, turned into 12 days of care from start to finish, and almost $7K worth of expense. Trupanion's customer insurance was fabulous, and they jumped on the claim right away. I received compensation from Trupanion within a week of filing the claim. Normally, I'm very skeptical of insurance ... Trupanion was one of the best decisions I've made! Thanks Trupanion!

Exclusion #28 - Read the small print

If your dog has a history of eating foreign objects do not choose this insurance. Your claim will not be covered if your medical records show your dog has had 2 foreign body ingestion incidents in the past 18 months. Refer to exclusion #28 in the handbook. Recently my dog ate a pine cone and had to have it removed. I submitted a claim and it was denied because his medical records showed had 2 "similar" incidents in the last 18 months 1. he ate tampons 2. he ate pills.
