Best investment we ever made

We have a high-deductible plan for our two dachshunds; we did not opt for wellness coverage or Rx coverage. It was only purchased to be a cushion for a major/catastrophic event. When one them had a sudden disc herniation that required immediate diagnostic (MRI) and treatment (surgery), we were beyond shocked and overwhelmed--he's barely 4 years old, very athletic and lean; we knew disc issues were common with dachshunds, but given his stature, we never expected a back issue for him. At any rate, it was certainly a nightmare scenario, and it required immediate decisions involving quite a bit of cost to us monetarily and risk as well, considering the surgery wasn't guaranteed to get him walking again. It's too early to tell whether he'll regain function in his back legs, although his neurologist feels certain he will, but one thing's certain: if not for Embrace, he wouldn't have gotten the surgery he needed. The MRI estimate was $2k, the surgery estimate was $4500, and that didn't include the initial consult, ER fee, etc. We needed to know, pretty much immediately, what Embrace would cover, if anything. Embrace was able to expedite our pre-certification forms for the procedures, so we knew same-day what was covered and what our responsibility would be. If we'd had to decide whether to move forward without first knowing what Embrace would reimburse, we would't have been financially able to. We are so incredibly thankful for the kindness and empathy all Embrace staff members used

Pay attention to your Policy Benefits and DATES!!!

We took our two year old Terrier to our Vet for her annual exam - We have been using this Vet for 30 years, he is highly regarded in his profession and he himself had recommended Pets Best... Generally speaking, we have been very pleased with the few claims we've had to submit. HOWEVER, we would CAUTION all policy holders of any pet insurance company to be AWARE of previous exam DATES - in this case, we had our dog's annual exam performed TWO DAYS prior to the completion of one year, and Pet's Best, despite a request to reconsider reimbursement (we have the Wellness plan), has denied our request for reimbursement. We are not in the habit of checking the precise date when the annual exam is performed, perhaps this is our fault - but that Pet's Best would not even consider an exception is very, very disappointing. The sum we sought for reimbursement would have been just shy of $200, and considering our policy's monthly cost is $82 has left us with a sour taste. The obvious lesson here is to be sure you have passed 365 days before repeating an annual exam. We think Pet's Best fails at the "Wellness" plan option - we are paying additional for it yet it's disappointing that they would not even consider an exception - even once - they claim they are bound by the contract limitations bound by the insurance underwriters... If you expect reimbursements, especially for annual exams and the Wellness portion, be aware of this!... Just as our doggie says, we too say Grrr

awesome experience

Our beloved dog Icy jumped across my daughters lap and jumped out of my front seat of my truck but his back leg caught on the step and broke instantly. We knew it was bad and within a half an hour had him at emergency. We didn't have the 3,500 dollars to pay for it since it was a weekend and trupanion wasn't open, at midnight on a Friday.... Our vet called it in as an emergency and they had it approved in a very short period of time. The stress that took off us was incredible. I was thinking to only have trupanion while he was a puppy, but now he will be covered for his lifetime. We had him covered with no deductble so our portion of the over 3,500 was 624 dollars much more affordable. I have already recommended them to all my friends :) overall out of such a horrible experience trupanion made it bearable. thank you so much April and family!

VERY RELIABLE

I have had Embrace insurance on one dog for about 7 years and the other for about 4. I know what to expect when I take my pups to the vet in terms of reimbursement. The company pays what they say they will in 2 weeks or less. I recommend them every chance I get.

Express Claim, 10% Co-Pay & Alternative Treatments

I love Trupanion and I recommend for this company for pet insurance. An insurance company reveals their true character when its time to file a claim. Unfortunately, I had to file some claims but Trupanion provides me peace of mind and takes away the financial stress. My last claim I paid a co-pay since they agreed to pay my vet directly. That gives me the freedom to make decisions on what is best for my dog. Whoever you get don't wait insurance.

Quick

Trupanion works very quickly when it comes to helping with the care needed for a petty vet does direct billing with them but when I had to go to a different vet for an emergency we got reimbursement checks with in a few days of filing. Also we were able to know rather quickly (within twenty minutes) that we could get get all the diagnostic tests needed to help treat my pup instead of having to figure out which of the most important tests to get done.

Pet Insurance is a Lifesaver

My Golden Retriever Lacie swallowed a rock in April. If it were not for Aspca, and Carecredit, I don't know what I would have done. The pet hospital's bill was over $2000. The Carecredit gave me the option pay the hospital up front, and Aspca paid 80% back to me. So I was able to pay the bill. Then aspca, and the animal hospital called me to check on Lacie. It was so nice to have someone care about what I was going through.

better than most

I have been satisfied with this insurance for my three beagles who are 11, 11 and 8. The plan has definitely saved me some money. They are good about following up with phone calls to see how your pet is doing. My only complaint is that , when one of my beagles had to see an eye specialist (the only one in our town), Pet insurance still reimbursed based on the average cost in towns similar to mine across the states. I understand when they do that for regular vet procedures, but I had no choice but to use the only ophthalmologist in town. This should have been take into consideration by Pet insurance. When one has only one option, the full amount should be paid for that option. It doesn't happen often but when it does it only seems fair that Pet insurance pay for all of it. All in all, it's a good company.

Relieved

Healthy Paws was recommended to me by another pet owner when both our dogs were undergoing expensive treatment about a year ago. The difference was I had no insurance so Sarah cost me $20,000 while he had Health Paws and was relieved of most of the financial responsibility. Unfortunately my other dog Ernie was diagnosed with a brain tumor about a month ago. But this time I had him insured with Healthy Paws. They indeed had the best benefits I had found and it was wonderful that they paid for most of the surgery and soon will be paying the oncologist for radiation therapy. While I would mortgage my house to take care of my dogs, healthy paws was about the best decision I could have made financially.

Incredibly Grateful for Healthy Paws

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the service Healthy Paws provides to pet owners. My husband and I love our dogs, they are true companions to us. Everyday we experience the loyalty, light heartedness and unconditional love they bring to our lives. Without the insurance, we would have been hard pressed to handle the financial expense of our dogs surgery and to see her in pain, brought us pain! So thank you to the staff at Healthy Paws for offering such a remarkable service that ultimately allows us to keep our beloved pets healthy and pain free. My husband and I are very appreciative of your efficiency and your services.
