Great insurance - easy to file, great customer service, fast payment
This was a great insurance experience. The claim was easy to file and very straightforward. Customer service was excellent. Transparency (not many insurers strong suit) was excellent. I would recommend them totally.

Quick care and refund
My dog Penny recently had a very expensive surgery and healthy paws covered the entire cost of the surgery (minus deductible and my individual plan of 80% coverage). I received the money In my account within a week of filing the claim. It was genuinely so comforting knowing I didn’t have to worry about the care I got for my pet. I’ve never had a single issue with their refund/coverage policies and this one surgery was worth almost 7 years of the monthly payment I make, so it’s 100% worth the money. Thank you again so much for your care and attention!

It’s a peace of mind to have insurance for my pet in case we ever have a large bill. However, if feel the return is lacking. I pay out way more than I get in return on my claims. But on the plus side, the team members are pleasant to deal with.

It is worth the peace of mind!
It is worth the peace of mind! We previously had an Italian Greyhound that broke its leg and we did not have insurance. It ended up costing $5000

Underwriting's lack of common sense
I have found the quality of underwriting with Trupanion to have diminished over the years. I have to pay a 2nd deductible portion because my dog was "vomiting" and Trupanion says it isn't tied to the 7 hours he was at his regular vet because he had a horrible ear infection AND a pathology draw for a tumor on his face. We got home and he became very sick so we rushed to a ER Clinic in the middle of the night. He was hyperventilating, vomited, and was so sick I thought he was dying. He couldn't stand up. He couldn't eat. He couldn't drink water. Trupanion says these things weren't related. HOW is everything that happened in one day NOT RELATED?? My dog was fine when I took him in at 9-10 am ... and horribly sick when I took him home (and then back to a local ER hospital). A week later he had to have a massive tumor removed in surgery. Hmmm, not related??? Odd underwriting.
