Great Experience

My 10 year old Golden Retriever Jack tore his ACL and had major surgery to repair. I have had VPI insurance for over 5 years, but had never used it. Within 3 days of Jack's tear, he was in for surgery, my Vet filed the paperwork the next day and I received a claim check within 2 weeks. I agree with other reviewers on this page, that you should do your due diligence on the policy and understand the reimbursement. I did not and once I started reading the policy, I had low expectations. Jack's surgery was over $4,000 and in the end I received all but a small deductable. I couldn't be happier with the claim process and outcome.

Website

I have been a Petfirst customer for years. I have five dogs insured. Petfirst has always handled my claims fairly and processed them in a reasonable amount of time. If there was one small concern, it would be interacting with their website. It is often very slow to navigate to different pages and there is no easy way to update credit card information for automatic policy renewal. I had to call in the info which was not the preferred way for me to transmit sensitive data like that. I might recommend that the website master invest some time into making the website faster and more user friendly. That's just my personal opinion. Otherwise, no problems with Petfirst all these years, and despite the minor internet issues, would still continue to recommend Petfirst.

Does what it says!

My dog became sick with intestinal issue and had to go to the emergency vet. (It always happens on a weekend!) The she was transferred to my regular vet for follow-up and care. Surgery was not out of the question but was avoided. I submitted the bill for the emergency vet to Healthy Paws. It was simple. I emailed the invoice and medical record and got the check within a week. I then had a bill from the regular vet. The vet submitted the bill on Friday and the claim was processed on Monday. I am so happy I opted for insurance and especially this one! I had done a lot of research before selecting an insurance to get the terms I wanted and I got it right! Thank you Healthy Paws!

But this insurance the moment you get your pup

I hate using insurance because it means my dog has problems, but this insurance has really come in handy to get through the hard times. Every time I go the specialty vet I recommend Embrace highly, and ask the staff to mention you if anyone asks.

Prompt and super nice

My first Pet Insurance so I cannot compare, but I must say that my experience is superb! the Vet clinic faxed the claim form for me on a Thursday and I received an email the very next day and my check was in the mail on Monday. All of this while I was getting updates on my claim status. The process is painless and I even signed up to get my next reimbursements via direct deposit! the customer service staff (all three of them) have been sweet and sound happy to talk and answer questions.

Grateful for Pets Best!

After not having insurance for my last 2 dogs (and just now paying off $10,000 in bills from their last few months, 2 years ago), I decided to get insurance for my new pups. Unfortunately, 1 week before I was going to sign up, one pup broke her elbow to the tune of $3k. That was it (the last straw), we signed up for insurance (thinking that now we had insurance, we would not need it :)). I had to make a claim last week. The claim was paid in less than 1 week and it was so simple to submit the claim. Thank you for your help Pets Best!

Very, very pleased!

When I signed up for insurance for our dogs, I was overwhelmed by researching the many options. I finally decided we'd go with Embrace and I'm so glad we did. Their customer service is awesome; no matter who I speak with or email, the response is friendly and helpful. Now that we have a dog with an unusual illness, I couldn't be happier with the communication and the quick responses. The Explanation of Benefits is clear and the checks come quickly. Rejected.

My pet Sunny, has been rejected for every claim i have filed this whole year! He had an arthritis problem which was not pre-existing and cost alot of money to get it diagnosed and in the end, Embrace said i had to first meet the $500 deductible, then a few other claims which also got rejected because they were considered "pre-existing". Lots of dogs have allergy problems but since it is "pre-existing" is not covered. The medications are expensive... Does the insurance only cover for emergencies only then?

Very Pleased

Our five month old puppy became very sick and a number of vets could not figure out what was wrong with her. Through Trupanion, we were able to afford the diagnostic tests and treatments that were able to find the right treatment for her. Without Trupanion, we would have been in a much more stressful position, but having insurance available made a bad situation financially tolerable. Our interactions with Trupanion representatives have been amazing and very timely, and they have really put effort into customer care. We are very happy, and our puppy is on the mend.

Thank you for insuring older pets

Many pet insurance companies will not insure older pets, or the premiums are unaffordable. I have 3 dogs, two of whom are over 10 years old and I have PetFirst policies on all of them. It was a lifesaver for one of my old dogs, who needed expensive eye surgery last year, and developed pneumonia 10 days after surgery. All of that was covered. This year she was diagnosed with lymphoma and is going through chemotherapy, and has also dealt with another bout of pneumonia. All of this is covered. Without insurance I may have had to make the decision to put her down.
