Pre Existing is their famous excuse!!!

Don't get VPI FOR SURE!!!! We had a German Shepherd who was 100% healthy when we got her as a puppy....put her on the highest plan possible and 4 months later ended up getting her fixed. The day after the surgery she all the sudden stopped urinating and was severely blocked in the bladder, moving up into the kidneys. Took her back to the vet, of course, /'f they sent us straight down to GCVS (a specialty hospital that people from all over the US come to for disease, cancer, etc). Luckily it's 45 min from our home, but talk about expensive!!!! Her first 4 days in the hospital cost $4500...including another surgery to relieve blockage. All 3 specialists said that it was NOT caused from the surgery and is so rare that would be normal to be undetected until it actually hit the point she was at. But VPI claimed it was "pre-existing" and wouldn't cover even a single penny! Even after submitting proof of tests and testimonials from all specialtists saying it was not pre-existing...still, not one penny! At this point it was too late to change insurance companies bcuz then it really would be pre-existing. Therefore...after 6 yrs of medical treatment and many hospital stays and surgeries, we've spent over $30,0000 on our dog. Would do it again and again in a heartbeat bcuz she's one of the family BUT ridiculous that we had insurance company that wouldn't lift a finger to help. At all. Never has. By the way VPI...if not being able to urinate was considered pre-existing, common sense has it that she wouldn't have lived. Really?? Didn't know a dog could go 4 months (from the time we signed up with VPI) without peeing...ridiculous excuse if u ask ME! Sadly, we lost our Dakota 3 months ago after battling this rare disease! She died of kidney failure...which the vet agrees they could've possibly found a cure if insurance would've helped and instead used the money out of pocket to use towards research and exotic meds to try. Hmmmm. Prettt sad if u ask me. So now we just got another new puppy (Bentley) who is a 2 month old German Shepherd as well...and as I search for new plans and ask vets for recommendations, almost 100% of them have referred me TO Healthy Paws Insurance... so wish me Luck this time. And I sure hope Bentley is in good hands with them bcuz Poor Dakota was certainly NOT by using VPI. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

I dont need pet insurance I used to think

I've been a pet owner since I was a kid and now I am an adult. I did not think I needed pet insurance because I can pay for all their needs. However, I decided to give it a try "just in case." One of my pets experienced an injury due to black ice. I submitted the claim and I got reimbursed...that easily and effortlessly.

Easy, Great Pet Coverage

ASPCA Pet insurance has been a no hassle, great insurance to have for our two dogs. We pay for accident and injury, which covers a lot. Low Deductible, and covers 80% of your costs. Claims can be filed online, so easy! And you get your money fast, 2 weeks or less sometimes. You also know you are supporting the ASPCA when you use their insurance, which is a great thing to know.

Not thrilled

First time using this company. Submitted $1500 claim (included an optional gastropexy and spay) for my new puppy and they only paid $185. I understand they have to make a profit, but I'm not sure if it is more cost effective to save your premiums in an investment account than to have pet insurance.

Excellent customer support

We have had several claims for our boxer, Molly. All where handled professionally and expeditiously! Plus there is routine followup by Embrace staff to ensure that our reimbursements were received. Sadly our medical doctors aren't as attentive!! Tony and Molly

We have been happy with our ASPCA pet insurance po

Our oldest dog Mandy has had a long list of health problems over the last year and specifically over the last 3 months. As a result we incurred a lot of expense from vets and having the ASPCA insurance has helped offsetting some of these costs.

Delilah skin problems

Delilah was having some skin issues where she was biting herself raw. My vet treated her with a cortisone shoot. She also pulled her shoulder and was limping the shot covered both.

Great Insurance Company

My cat, who had been healthy all of her 9 years of life until recently had stopped eating and had a serious case of diarrhea. After her exams, the vets determined she had swollen lymph nodes and an inflammatory bowel disease which is now being treated. After spending so much time and money in and out of vets offices over a 2 month timeframe, we were extremely happy with how well Pets Health handled our claims & questions, quickly and professionally.

Good coverage, quick reimbursement

Very happy with my coverage with Embrace. I've had coverage with Trupanion as well, and consider Embrace's coverage to be very comprehensive and clear. I appreciate the reasonable reimbursement time (before my credit card bill is due!), the ability to choose my deductible and my amount of coverage, and the great customer service I've had. I also chose Embrace because they cover so many things, including breed specific genetic and hereditary diseases, the exam fees, alterative medicine, etc. Very pleased with Embrace!
