So glad we have pet insurance on our Berner!

About three years ago, we decided we should get pet insurance for our Bernese Mountain dog and our cat. We chose ASPCA insurance based on various recommendations. The Berner has had several surgeries to remove benign tumors, but most recently our Berner had a tumor removed that turned out to be cancerous. We are so thankful that we have ASPCA insurance and they have covered a majority of the chemotherapy costs. Some of the vet costs have been considered over and above their allowable charges, but it has still proven to be one of the best decisions to buy the pet insurance. A company representative contacted us to find out how our dog was doing, which I thought was a very personalized service!

Smooth Sailing

I provided the claim form to my vet. They faxed it in. Within 10 days, I had a check for my share. Worked perfectly, as far as I was concerned. Also good communication from the assistors - sending me email telling me where my claim was, and checking on if I received my check. Highly recommend.

Look No Further than Healthy Paws!!

All of our family members with dogs use Healthy Paws. It is a wonderful company. We had used 2 other pet insurance companies before discovering Healthy Paws. Both were a huge disappointment. We have found Healthy Paws fees are reasonable and believe me the peace of mind is worth every penny. Our dog, a Cavalier, is diabetic. Needles, Vetsulin, blood work, etc. has been covered. (We have the 90% coverage plan.) A family member's German Shepherd had to have her spleen removed. They have 80% coverage. Cost was in the thousands and Healthy Paws paid. We are very grateful to Healthy Paws and their amazing staff. This is not a paid endorsement, but one from the heart.

The ASPCA does not care about your dog.

Do not buy ASPCA pet insurance. My 5-year old dog had $5,000 ACL surgery after he started limping in May. Brought him to our vet, they said he may have arthritis, but to see a surgeon just in case. We took him 10 days later. They diagnosed him with a torn ACL. We got his surgery, then submitted a claim. The ASPCA decided not to pay for it (after paying $45/month for 5 years) because his "diagnosis" and surgery were in different "billing periods." Our dog saw the vet May 5, saw the surgeon May 15, and the billing period roll-over was May 10. Our vet, who we saw on May 5, didn't diagnose him -- the surgeon did, which technically means the diagnosis and surgery were in the same billing period, both after May 10. However, the ASPCA claims they count our vet seeing his "symptoms" as the official diagnosis. If this sounds ridiculous, it's because it is. The ASPCA will do whatever it can to not pay for your dog. They don't care about you. They don't care about animals. Do not buy their insurance.

Great Insurance Company

I've had this insurance since I rescued my dog in 2008. Every time I get a bill they always send me a reimbursement with 3 weeks. They're just a great company to work with!

Great communication throughout process :-)

Pet lethargic and abnormal behavior.Trupanion notified me upon receipt of claim and kept me informed during the claims process via email. The claim was processed quickly and I received a check and detailed easy to understand explanation of payment about 1 week later. I am very happy with Trupanion and would definitely recommend them to other pet parents.

Money saver

Our 2 1/2 year old lab began vomiting a large volume of bloody gelatinous goo which was...disturbing, to say the least. We took her to our vet who sent us to an emergency vet who kept her overnight while performing a multitude of tests. I picked her up the next day along with some medication and a $2400 bill. We submitted a claim to Trupanion the next day and found their customer service to be very responsive. They kept us updated on the claim status as they gathered the necessary information from the vets involved and 2 weeks after the incident we were notified that a check was in the mail. After removing the cost of the vet exams (not covered) and our deductible, Trupanion reimbursed us $2000. Very satisfied! The only caveat is that the vet bill must be paid in full by the pet owner who is then reimbursed by Trupanion instead of the vet billing Trupanion directly. Overall we were very satisfied by our experience. The knowledge that we can afford to provide medical treatment for our dog without having to skip a mortgage payment gives peace of mind. Well worth the monthly premium.
