Hassle free coverage; they give what they promise

I have had Trupanion for ~ 8 months to cover my Great Dane. Given what I was going to pay for him and the various things he could be prone to, I felt like insurance was prudent. I did an absolute ton of research into all of the major companies. I weighed all of the pros/cons -- there's no one company that's perfect (example: I really wish Trupanion had some form of coverage for at least a portion of the exam), but for what I needed Trupanion seemed best. I was amazed at how for each and every company (to include Trupanion), there were reviews that said they were absolutely fantastic and others that said they'd rather lose their right arm than go with this company again. I can honestly say that thus far, my experience has been perfect. I have a zero deductible plan. I go to the vet and pay my bill. My vet submits the claim to Trupanion for me (the claim form takes about 10 seconds to fill out) and voila: a check for 90% of what's covered arrives in the mail. No hassles, questions, resubmissions or attempts to hide behind tricky language so as not to pay. I get an email to say they've received my claim and another that says the check's on the way. I've probably submitted 5-6 claims thus far and have yet to have a problem. I can honestly say I've been very satisfied. Even their phone people were nice when I called

Great Product and Service

I have subscribed with Trupanion since 2011 for all my 3 pets. A few months after I joined, my Yorkie Samson developed a serious illness and the staff at Trupanion were extremely understanding and helpful and supported all treatments required to bring Medicationa ndhim back to health. Now, both my cats are senior citizens, and as such have developed some health issues, which Trupanion is helping with medication/supplements. The new Claim process is quick and efficient. To date, I am very pleased I chose Trupanion over the previous insurer I had. Trupanion tends to make things easier not harder and they are up front about what is covered and what is not. Other companies I dealt with used ambiguous language and you never were sure if you are covered or not. Kudos Trupanion.

Trupanion has been absolutely amazing.

Unfortunately our 2 year old puppy was diagnosed with early kidney disease and we had to run several tests, see some specialists and begin providing our dog with various prescriptions on a daily basis. Trupanion has been fantastic, has covered the numerous expenses and their claims paying process is extremely quick. Thankfully our puppy seems to be doing fine, but it will be a long (hopefully) road ahead and we are so thankful to have Trupanion by our side.

Unbelievably good Customer Service

We recently had a problem due to our dog Oscar having eaten something that he shouldn't have. He became very sick and we were forced to take him the the emergency vet. After 2 nights they released him (prematurely), and he began having bloody diarrhea within 24 hours after starting his medication. All in all a very bad experience.Trupanion however was a HUGE help! They immediately pre-approved his procedures, and after the bloody stool they made sure that we were comforted in knowing they would pre-approve any additional costs associated with having to take him back to the emergency vet. If we had health insurance for us humans that was HALF this good, we wouldn't want to use the public system ever again. Truly above and beyond expectations!

This is the best insurance ever!

Without this insurance I would not be able to afford the medical upkeep of my beloved pet. He is a English tri colored coonhound with a medical issue of epilepsy. He seemed very healthy but boom, he started having seizures and after complete testing this what was discovered. Diagnosis and treatment can be quite expensive but trupanion gladly lives up to their policy with reimbursement rapidly

I love healthy paws insurance & their staff!

I can not say one bad thing about healthy paws... I had gotten insurance for our rescue pup we adopted because we lost our last dog due to illness and learned the hard way... I will never go without insurance ever again! I read all the reviews and spoke to people that had insurance and decided on healthy paws. Our dog duke was in a horrible accident - he ran right in front of a truck! After an almost 7000 dollar vet bill and still needing his third surgery I'm so happy I went with a company that has the support of an amazing staff and they will go through your claims fast and send out a payment check so I can pay off my bill. I recommend healthy paws 100% - from their app to the staff love everything about this company!

Always A Trupanion Client

We adopted our fur baby, Katie on Valentines of 2011 and since then she has incontinence. Unfortunately in the past year or so, she has been diagnosed with Degenerative Joint Disease. Due to her pain, she is taking a pain pill. Our Katie takes Pronin, Vetprofen and Gabapentin on a daily basis. Trupanion has, in a timely manner, processed her claims. We have recently met our deductibles for 2 of her medications. Thank you, Trupanion for having an excellent staff and insurance coverage for Katie.

Best decision I have ever made

We were playing in the creek and Alex decided to pick up a rock. When he picked up the rock he split his front tooth down to the root. Our vet referred us to the dog dentist, who was amazing and fixed everything. Trupanion covered almost all of it and explained what they did and did not cover. I am now adding my other dog to trupanion because I trust and value their service.I work at a dog daycare and tell all of the clients how great and wonderful they are. No matter what happens, I feel comfortable knowing we have Trupanion.

Vet/Embrace Communication Gap

My vet faxes the claims but many times Embrace does not seem to receive them. Recently they faxed 2 claims (separate dates). Embrace responded with one claim number so I wrote back and questioned the vet and also questioned Embrace as to whether they had indeed received both claims. Embrace assured me they had and then I received a response for only one claim. I had to contact Embrace again for the second claim and ask my vet to refax the 2nd invoice again. This has happened repeatedly in the past. My vet is very efficient. I love Embrace insurance and am usually very happy with the service but I would like to see this communication improved.

Disappointed Now That I'm a Customer

24PetWatch had great customer service when I was signing up, but once you push the button for existing customers in their automated system, you wait on hold, usually for 25 - 30 minutes. I was very disappointed in their lack of response both when I mailed and emailed the required medical reports to set up my cat's insurance. Even when I contacted them, I found the reps 1) do not have voice mail, so you can’t leave a message when they don’t respond to emails, 2) have no information on the status of issues, so they have to email an underwriter and put you on hold while waiting for a response, and 3) they can be rude. When I pointed out to one rep that their chip -- which was implanted in my cat at the shelter before I adopted him -- could not be reprogrammed if I decided to go with another insurance company, she said "You want to subject your cat to surgery!" and I said, No, you are doing that as other companies allow their chips to be reprogrammed. Please do not insult me." They also came up with bogus "preexisting conditions". For example, my Banfield Vet Plan pays for a teeth cleaning every year. 24PetWatch then claimed that the cat had "tartar" and would be permanently exempted from any dental coverage! And as he had one small case of diarrhea when he was admitted to the shelter (which is very common due to stress and food changes) he would be denied coverage for this for two years. Very unfair and self-serving of them. Their forms are confusing, and there is little clarification on their website as to what your actual coverage is for various plans. After the year I have paid for is over, I am going to switch to another insurance company, as I see many have better reviews, especially for customer service. I have wasted too much time having to track down issues their customer service department drops the ball on, and I do not appreciate the bait and switch of their coverage denials.
