Everyone who owns a pet should have their insurance
Healthy paws has been an excellent company to use for our pet insurance. They are very responsive, easy to file claims, and quick to get reimbursed.
For over 9 years we have had Trupanion on our side. For over 9 years they have never disappointed us.
First TPLO just over 4 years ago, and quite suddenly, not quite a week ago, the other side has to be done.
Reimbursement done within 48 hours, appropriate to our policy.
TPLO is very expensive and our relief in continuing with Trupanion was tenfold.
Another big sigh of relief!
Now onto recovery and rehab.
Great experience with MetLife Pet Insurance. My Doberman was limping and I took her to my Integrative vet to see if we could figure out why. Took several XRays and decided on a holistic treatment and therapy schedule. This was the first time I had used the insurance and was not sure what all they would cover but I was pleasantly surprised that they covered all of her treatments!
For the amount of money I pay every month for this insurance, Pets Best is very selective with what they reimburse. I wish I would have went with another company a long time ago. I am canceling my account now after my last claim was denied.
Don't bother getting pet insurance if you have ever taken your dog to the vet for an injury or illness.
If your're going to get pet insurance get it before you see a vet for any problems. Otherwise you will be denied payment for any claim that can be associated with anything that occured before your pet was insured. They like to claim it was a preexisting condition even if you paid to have the condition corrected. In most cases you're probably better off setting aside the monthly premium and the deductible in an account to pay cash for vet visits as needed.
Healthy Paws is the best. My dog got violently ill very suddenly and the emergency vet cost a fortune - but Healthy Paws came through with a large reimbursement within 1-2 days. The people there are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They even sent a follow up email asking how my dog was and sending a big hug to her. Healthy Paws is fantastic and SO worth it because you never know when something can happen - and having them there really reduced my stress level.
I am completely disappointed! I am changing the insurance RIGHT NOW. My pet hurt her dee claw and we spent over $400 for the operation, medication and some extra vaccines. I have been paying over $60 every month over a year and 24 Petwatch reimbursed me ONLY $30. It’s a JOKE!
I called them and the guy in the NYC office read me the same doc that was emailed to me. NO CLEAR EXPLANATION!
If An insurance is not even gonna cover vet’s visit, medication, and the operation, what is the point of paying $60 every month?
There are tons of BETTER pet insurances out.
I feel like SCAMMED!
We are finding a new insurance. Any insurance is better than this!
I have never had a problem with Trupanion coverage/they are amazing
Trupanion is amazing. They processed my last claim on the same day I faxed it! They never argue about any claim or even delay the claim. If only health insurance worked like this. Do not hesitate to purchase Trupanion insurance! When you call they actually ask how your pet is doing -they really care.
