Biggest scam in pet insurance
We’re new pet parents and have a 5 month old puppy. Early on at 2.5 months he had a few runny bowel movements and we had it tested (everything came back normal) once we got him on the correct diet everything went back to normal. At 5 months old our puppy started squealing while making a bowel movement and was in a lot of pain. We found a piece of lego in his stool that he must have grabbed from our nephew over Christmas break. When he wasn’t acting normal and was still clearly in a lot of pain we took him to the vet hospital and they recommended x-rays and a few other test to see if he had a foreign object stuck somewhere in his system. Trupanion was an absolute joke suggesting since our dog had a stool sample tested a few months prior this was an “existing condition”
So here we are right after Christmas paying a monthly premium pet insurance and also getting stuck with the large vet bill.
If you choose to do pet insurance go with anyone but Trupanion. The staff on the phone were rude and didn’t seem to care at all. I’d rate them 0-10 if I could, absolute scam.
Our Dog speared herself with a branch and had to be taken in for stitches - since the wound was deep they also put a drain for the wound in that had to be removed in two to three days. I thought no problem we have pet insurance. However what isn’t advertised is that they don’t pay for the visit to the emergency vet that costs $200, they don’t pay sales tax- nor would they pay for the removal or the drain or the stitches removed . $1400 of expenses - they paid $300. Granted my deductible was $500. The idea of pet insurance sounds great - but would have been further ahead putting my 70 per month in a contingency account rather than throwing it away on pet insurance where they just look for excuses not to pay..
I wanted to write a review for Healthy Paws because I wanted to support them as they have supported me through a tough time with my 6-year-old husky. I want to help other people trying to make the decision of whether or not to incur the monthly cost of pet insurance and then ultimately which one to choose. My husky recently had a bad battle with pneumonia and needed to be hospitalized for two nights to receive IV antibiotics and fluids, needed multiple x-rays, a “wash”, culture sample, and has been on antibiotics for a while now – this can all get very expensive very quickly. If I didn’t have pet insurance, I don’t know how I would have gotten through it financially – having pet insurance allowed me to make the right decisions and luckily, we caught things early. He’s doing much better now and hopefully on the tail end of this. Healthy Paws has an easy-to-use app to upload the receipts quickly, have very fast reimbursements, customer service has been great and I am so thankful for them. I even got a personalized note asking how he was doing after his battle with pneumonia – it wasn’t a templated email – it was a personal note specific to what he had gone through. That is the type of company I want to be a customer of and appreciate.
Healthy Paws insurance is professional, responsive, and exceeds my expectations of an insurance company
We've had dogs all of our life but never had insurance. My wife researched getting a new puppy a year and a half ago and due to the time and effort she put in decided to get Pet insurance. I contacted numerous companies and it always seemed the agent was reading from a script. When I called Healthy Paws I was talking to someone who genuinely cared about "Finley" and his well being. After a year, no major issues, and never reached our deductible (which we chose). This year Finley became violently sick in a short period of time. After ER and Vet visits he was diagnosed with Addison's disease which is extremely rare in young dogs. The Vet bills mounted quickly for treatments, sonogram, consultation....After collecting about 6 different bills I scanned them and submitted them through their easy to use Website. To my astonishment I received notice in 1 day that our claim had arrived. In 3 days our claim was funded and we soon received checks! I've never exprienced an insurance company respond so quickly - no questions, no hedging, just incredibly fast service. We couldn't be happier with Healthy Paws and would recommend them highly to any pet owner.
I have had this co for two yrs filed my first claim and have gotten nothing but the run around. They keep asking for more docs. Now they want documents before I had the dog. The claim is only 1,260 before my deductible. I went with this co without reading the bbb reviews. I just seen they rated good and went with them. Big mistak
Phenomenal customer service and easy claim process!
Embrace just made the claims process so easy!
Last year my dog was very sick and had to be transported to OSU in the middle of the night. My claims reached the limit. I thought for sure they would not renew us… but they did. Best decision I ever made!
