Amazing response time for approval
Amazing response time for approval. Fair with what they cover. I'm so glad I had insurance - it saved me a bundle on my dog's back surgery.

Refusal of bill
After dealing with increasingly high premiums when the dog got older, they only reimbursed 25% for a cancer diagnosis. I had major medical coverage and was paying $245 a month when our boy passed. I will seek another company if we ever get another doggie.

Watch out for Embraces Renewals
I’ve been with Embrace for years and just received my renewal notice. The new premium is $918.31 per month. That is over $11,000 per year to insure two senior pets. For comparison, my current billing shows $279 per month . So we are talking about going from roughly $3,300 per year to more than $11,000 per year at renewal. That is not a modest increase. That is a financial shock. What makes this worse is that they have never paid a single claim since I purchased the insurance. Reimbursed to date is $0. So after years of paying premiums, the first major interaction at renewal is a massive rate increase. Yes, the explanation includes rising veterinary costs, age adjustments, and actuarial reviews in California. I understand that premiums change. But tripling the annual cost feels less like risk adjustment and more like pricing customers out once their pets are older. Insurance is supposed to provide peace of mind. Instead, this feels like you are paying faithfully for years and then being presented with a bill that makes you question whether coverage is even sustainable. If you are considering pet insurance, do not just look at the monthly number. Convert it to an annual cost. When someone says $300 per month, that is $3,600 per year. When it becomes $900 per month, that is more than $10,000 per year. Do the math before your pets age into a pricing tier that makes staying insured feel impossible.

Nobody wants to hear a cancer diagnosis…
Nobody wants to hear a cancer diagnosis for their furry baby - ever! But if that should occur, it sure is nice having Healthy Paws on your side. I’ve had Healthy Paws insurance for both my pups since they were puppies - they are now 11.5 & 12 y/o (BD today!). Every time I’ve had to file a claim they ALWAYS came through. And at this difficult time for my younger one, they are shining through again. He is recovering from surgery and will be undergoing a strong dose of radiation in 2 days. I’m really hoping that will be all that’s needed. Unlike other pet insurance companies, there’s no max cap with Healthy Paws. And yes, they don’t cover annual vaccinations or physical exams or monthly preventative meds, but those are expenses any pet owner should be responsible for if they’re going to be a pet owner. They do, however, cover the unexpected expenses that can cost quite a bit - diagnostics, labs, surgeries, other treatments - coverage provided for these is extremely helpful. Icing on the cake is the ease of filing a claim - submit photo of itemized invoice and Vet’s notes and that’s it. It can’t get any easier than that! Win win! And 99.9% of the time they complete the claim within a couple days - often times it’s been same day. I highly recommend Healthy Paws for your little one(s). I wouldn’t consider any other pet insurance company.

F etch pet insurance says every tooth…
F etch pet insurance says every tooth covered but that only seems to be true if you get the insurance when your dog is a puppy with absolutely no known conditions. Tarter was mentioned in one of the documented checkups….. not bad, no comment from the vet stating a dental condition needed to be addressed… and they used that to deny my claim. My dog was 4 years old when I got the insurance so yes, there are minor items noted in her checkups. I have no faith in Fetch at this point.

Claims easy/premiums expensive
Premiums went from $370+/- to $799 in one year so next year will be my deciding year whether we continue with Pets Best. Claims process easy but simply getting too expensive
It took awhile for us to get to meet…
It took awhile for us to get to meet the deductible but worth it.

Was nervous but pumpkin turned out to be awesome
I was dropped by nationwide. And to be honest nationwide had an amazing policy. I also had a dog with pre-existing condition of allergies. I looked and looked and tried to compare all of the different plans available, and I settled on pumpkin because they basically offered the same plan that I had with nationwide. Obviously they couldn’t cover the pre-existing allergy condition, but everything else was the exact same so I opted for the unlimited plan, including emergency and wellness. I have been very happy with pumpkin the turnaround time for payment on claims is so fast and they do estimates so for example if you have a big procedure coming up like a teeth cleaning, I submitted a estimate and was preapproved so by the time we had the procedure and I submitted the bill I had payment deposit deposited into my bank account within 24 hours. They are a great company to work with. I’m pleased that I picked them. I was nervous because I really did have a good experience with nationwide until they dropped me. But pumpkin has been great and I would recommend it to anybody looking for insurance. And I totally recommend the unlimited plan.
