Increase in costs are not worth it

I’m extremely disappointed that both the monthly rate and deductible have increase so much. It doesn’t seem beneficial to keep this policy.

A waste of time and money with this company. Go with another pet Insurance that actually cares about your pet with cheaper insurance and better coverage.

Reasonable Cost but .. not reasonable reimbursement

So the monthly cost is less than $50 so the annual will be about $600. I placed a claim in January for 682.00 and was paid $10. The logic here was the rest fell to the $750 annual deductable which can be changed on the anniversary of the first claim. Say What?, the policies anniversary is July, but the January claim dictates when a change can occurr. Time to change carriers.

AWFUL pet insurance company

AWFUL pet insurance company, do your research - there are definitely better options currently available. 3 of my pets have had this coverage for over 10 years. Although they pay quickly, you pay an exorbitant amount for the coverage which increases annually and now effective 2026, they are reducing coverage but charging even more so as to cover their profit margin. Look elsewhere. Unfortunately with pet insurance, switching companies is not easy as there are pre-existing exclusions. This was a decent company 10+ years ago compared to options at that time, but started sliding about 4 years ago.

Beware - "Pre-Exisiting Condition" is their song

Word to the wise for rescue adopters - do NOT share prior medical records with Trupanion - they will only use them to screw you and deny coverage. I have had Trupanion for 7 years since I rescued my dog at 6 months and have CONSISTENTLY been denied coverage due to "pre-exisiting conditions" supposedly stated in his health records prior to adoption. They denied an ear infection (the first in 4 years!) because apparently he had an ear infection as a puppy. How can a current ear infection be "pre-existing"? Now they are denying a tooth extraction because his records show poor dental of his pre-adoption baby teeth. If everything is "pre-existing" might as well shop for a cheaper alternative (which I will now do). Very disillusioned and totally fed up. Their rates only increase each year and their coverage for my poor rescue boy is completely nonexistent.

Major price increases indefinitely

I’ve been a Healthy Paws customer since 2018, and my experience has gone from acceptable to completely unacceptable. When I signed up, I paid $51.61/month for 80% coverage with a $250 deductible. Over the years, Healthy Paws raised my premium annually even though I rarely filed claims (maybe two in my 8 years and one was denied). I stayed loyal anyway. In 2023 the price hiked up to $72 so I lowered my coverage to 70% reimbursement and a $500 deductible to bring it back down to $54.57. Last year the cost of this coverage was increased to $82.47 then $84.94 in July after they added a 2.99% utilization fee. Despite all this, I’ve stayed loyal up until this year when the cost was raised to $140.16/month which is nearly triple what I originally paid for significantly less protection. This isn’t inflation, it’s exploitation of longtime customers who are emotionally invested in their pets and hesitant to switch. If you’re considering Healthy Paws, don't! Be aware loyalty is not rewarded, and long-term customers are priced out.

Annual fee increase is astronomical and inappropriate. I've also had issues in the past where AI is clearly reviewing cases and the result is nonsensical and I've had to spend time and effort appealing to get the correct result.

Excellent Pet Insurance

I am very pleased with the amount of coverage I get at a very reasonable price. Being able to bundle three dogs together and have them all contribute to the same deductible is great. Generally I am reimbursed in a timely manner. It was a little slow over the Christmas/New Year's holidays. I have recommended MetLife to several people who were interested in pet insurance or were unhappy with what they had. Just read the fine print about pre-existing conditions. It's very clear.
