Beware of policy wording - read fine print
This company has very misleading advertising. They claim to cover 90% of the bill but they don't cover taxes or exam fees! Where I am taxes are 13% which means they cover 77% at best. They claim to not raise premiums based on age but it's clear from reviews you can expect a 50-100% increase when the dog is a few years old. (I feel they rely on cost sunk fallacy.) They don't cover dental extractions if your dog is a heavy chewers or doesn't get frequent cleanings. The deductible is per illness so if your dog starts vomitting after an emergency vet visit you will still be on the hook for the deductible again. Cancelling wasn't too much of a hassle. I cancelled almost immediately after signing up. Hopefully it gets processed quickly.

Healthy Paws is wonderful.
Healthy Paws is the best pet insurance provider for my 2 fur babies. Both have had significant health issues (one had 2 torn CCL and one had a spinal stroke that left him paralyzed in his rear legs for several months). We wouldn’t have been able to provide the needed care for both of them without Healthy Paws. For our paralyzed pup, Healthy Paws also covered rehab services. Very quick claims processing and payout process. Cannot say enough positive things about the coverage and service.
Sneaky clauses
Apparently the policy excludes conditions that arose in a prior policy year, even if you were insured with PHI at the time. What a scam! I’ve never heard of any insurance working in this manner. Our dog developed a cyst in April but our policy renewed in May. By the time he was seen by a specialist, who is recommending surgery, we were into a new policy year and therefore this is considered a pre-existing condition so none of the specialist fees nor surgery will be covered even though we were insured the entire period. Make sure your pets’ illnesses occur in isolated years otherwise your claims won’t be paid! How ridiculous! I’m sure it’s clearly written in our policy (the lawyers would have made sure of that) but this is so contrary to how I’ve ever experienced insurance that I didn’t notice that restriction. It’s totally understandable if the condition arose before we got insurance but this is nonsense.

I am very happy
I have had my dog insured with Pets Plus Us since he was a puppy. I have never had a large claim until recently. I often thought that I was wasting money since my claims were small. However, recently my dg required treatment that was very costly. I submitted my claim to Pets Plus Us and within a few days I received my reimbursement. I am very happy with the service and so thankful that I kept my dog insured.

Prompt Response to claim
Pets plus us was recommended by a friend when we were considering pet insurance for our dog. It turned out to be an excellent choice. The experience working with Pets Plus Us was stress-free. Which was a nice change from the experience of our dog ingesting a toxin and all that went with it! We received reimbursement less than two weeks from the event requiring and maybe a medical care. Rates are reasonable and I highly recommend this company if you have a pet.
Easy Claim Filing, Reasonable Prices, Good Coverage-2 paws up!
This is the most affordable pet insurance available for the coverage one gets. I have both a dog and cat covered now with a very low deductible and 90% reimbursement. My first claim went through wonderfully. I also have the optional wellness coverage so getting paid back for all the vaccines, wellness exams, and medications, is always a plus! I shopped around prior to signing up and found this company was cheaper than SPOT. My work offered a discount for SPOT but Pets Best was still cheaper. As long as you have your vet send you your bills or give you a paper copy so you can scan, and you get your own vet records, no need to worry if the vet isn't sending records directly to Pet's Best, you can do it yourself! Easy claims process, easy form uploads, and prompt email communication. My cat and dog give them 2 paws up, so I guess that's 4 paws!

Having pet insurance has helped us multiple times.
Healthy Paws is a wonderful pet insurance company! They have been so easy to work with. Claims are all very easily submitted on the portal through their website. You just upload the itemized invoice and the medical records you receive from your vet. The turnaround time to have check in hand or direct deposit is 10 to 14 days. Your pet will need to have a medical exam around the time you get the insurance. Most (if not all?) pet insurance companies do not cover claims related to pre-existing conditions. But don't let that stop you as they do cover a lot that can happen in an animal's life...Accident, injury, or illness (not involved with pre-existing). Depending which plan you go with is how much the monthly bill will be. You can easily play with the tool on their website to find out what works for you with regards to percentage payout and deductible and the monthly fee. We have been insured with them since we got our two rescue pups, Lainy and Jerry, when they were approximately age 1 and 2. At the start, I think we paid around $85/month combined. They are now 8 and 9 years old, and it is now about $100/month combined. So if you only have one pet, depending what plan you choose, likely your monthly will be somewhere between $30-$60. In 7 years, we have had two major incidents with Jerry as well as several tests to evaluate elevated liver values. Lainy has yet to have a claim. I am so thankful we have had insurance! The first major claim was an accident where he was hit by a car in 2020 and it was a no brainer to take him to emergency as we had insurance. The second major claim was July 2024 where we woke up in the morning, and he suddenly couldn't use his back left leg. By the end of the day, he couldn't use either of his back legs. It was a no brainer! We have insurance and he needs help. We immediately went to emergency. After x-ray, they sent him home with pain pills and a referral to neurology. The next day with no real change, I contacted neurology and they said they only take same-day emergencies and to send them a video of him. Well, they admitted him the same-day. He had an MRI and after discussion of costs (many thousands of dollars) and the plan, he was off to back surgery as he had IVDD, Intervertebral Disk Disease, a disc protruding 50% into his spinal cord. 6 to 8 weeks post-surgery, expectation is 90% recovery with only 10% chance of relapse. Great news! While home recovery has not been easy for me or Jerry, it was well worth it. In these four weeks as I write this, he has returned his ability to walk and go to the bathroom on his own. His tail is wagging and his spirit is strong. We are bonded together stronger than ever. He has a new stroller he loves so we can still go out on long strolls and smell the fresh air and pop out of the stroller to explore on the ground for his mini walks. The length of time allowed for walking will continue to increase. I am so thankful we had insurance as this made our decision to have the surgery a possibility. I highly recommend getting and keeping pet insurance. This makes handling major health events so much easier. Our pets truly do become family and having insurance makes caring for them, especially into their elder years, so much easier. Thank you Healthy Paws!

Easy to file claims. Great company
We have a small dog that we have insured with Pets Best for several years. It is very easy to file claims. The explanation of benefits is easy to understand. The cost is reasonable and the increases each year make sense with her increasing age. When I called to speak to an agent he was easy to understand, professional and very helpful. I recommend them highly.
